@@maxfliart That’s awesome news! Looking forward to seeing your design work as much as your craftsmanship. That plane was the one that subscribed me to your channel-especially the kind of slo-mo shot @Brian Silcox described above-just utterly captivating.

As always, just WOW! I particularly loved the Sparten Bomber....beautiful bird and a great flier. I can't tell you how much your videos mean to me. I am all alone in this hobby and watching your videos allows me to at least pretend! LOL Thank you for your time and effort.

Thx, Glenn. I'm glad you enjoy them. I was so very pleased that the Spartan came around. Downthrust, nose weight, and another 1/8" shim of up elevator (1/4" total) brought her into the zone.

Lovely, as always. Inspiring. Missed it by 2 days and maybe 2+ miles. Met John H. at W. Flying Club, though. Super nice guy. He thinks free-flyers are a bit... crazy. "Odd ducks", I think he said. "Once you let go of the plane, you have no control over it!" Sounds about right. Hope to see some free- flights in person in the future.

Simply awesome video. The sunrise background and landing of NB3 looks so real. The scale like landing is unbelievable. Left me an impression of a real aircraft in that, was expecting the pilot to step out as soon as the prop stopped. Bravo.

Very sweet flyers ! I love the "shark larking around the victim" flight of the first model. I love the second flight of the biplane and the slow motion of "carrier take of" feeling from the table. Definition of Achievement is what comes in my mind after watching your creations to fly (as also an urge to build that VMC Bird Dog myself...)

What a difference in the Martinsyde! I'm impressed that you had the insight to go from undercambered to flat bottom on the bottom wing. Always loved this plane - so far ahead of its time👍

Thx. I felt the stability immediately upon releasing the first few times. However, each of the previous two versions that I built, 21" & 13" had a similar instability issue with the vertical stab. These flights were solid, but others were on the edge, either sliding left or spiraling to the right. But when she soars, it's so satisfying. I hope to show the 12 trim flights from the 3+ hour trim session in the morning.

The landing of the NB-3 was superb! Your Nicholas beazley, martinsyde, and taubman are three of my favorites that you’ve built. Perhaps I should add that each time you build any new airplane I say it’s my favorite. I’m curious, what dope do you use, or what do you use in place of dope that makes the tissue handle the wet or frosty grass so well?
@maxfliart
@maxfliart 3 жыл бұрын
Thx Jeff. I've enjoyed these models too. I haven't used dope in over 30 years. Instead, I use Krylon clear or matte. Just a dusting is all it takes. But unlike when using dope, the tissue will still wrinkle when there's moisture in the air. The benefit however is that Krylon prevents the tissue from over shrinking when it's tight. So it helps to avoid warps when the sun is beating down...which is most important if you build using light 4-6lb balsa.

Thank you for sharing! I believe you could make a brick fly and make it look good while doing it! Lol The biplane was spectacular, and the flight of the pig... i'm not sure what to think or say! It almost ended several times and somehow regained composure and flew like a Vulture! Thanks again for sharing, it is a most excellent thing to enjoy with my morning coffee!

I love your videos. They're all such a joy to watch. This is all new to me. Is flying near tall grass to prevent damage when they land? Do they always mention windings in the instructions, or is it a matter of trial and error? I am starting with the Guillows Javelin and then I will try the VMC Pilot. Thanks!
@maxfliart
@maxfliart 3 жыл бұрын
Thx for the feedback. Glad ur enjoying the channel. Yes, we always hope for tall grass at the field, as u will quickly find how hard cut grass and turf can be on a model. Repairs are always needed, but the tall grass minimizes the frequency. Kits give u a conservative, general idea of how many winds a model will take. We try to cram as much rubber in as possible, usually 3X in length of the prop hook to the rear peg. This way we can pack in the winds, which leads to duration. Check out Easy Built & Volare in the listing above. They have tutorials on building & flying. Good luck, have fun!

This weekend is a contest at Wawayanda, then in Geneseo, even though the FAC Non-Nats is canceled, many are gathering for an unofficial contest there. I believe the dates are July 14-17.

Greetings, Another in a long line of beautiful videos, Just stunning videography. Don’t know if you can really call that an ROG takeoff, though. More of a Carrier takeoff than a Ground takeoff. (ROC?) I didn’t care for the title. I can’t imagine you building a pig. Let’s be careful out there.

Golden Hour means there is no wind?
@maxfliart
@maxfliart 3 жыл бұрын
Golden Hour refers to the last couple of hours in the day, when the sun is low in the sky, creating a golden color. It's often the time when the wind fades away, so if you have both, it's truly magical, and a great time to fly.

Max, I live just across the PA line from Wawayanda and would love to come watch and photograph your flying. Can you disclose where it is you fly?
@maxfliart
@maxfliart 3 жыл бұрын
Sure. This is the Brooklyn Skyscrapers home field, and they have directions noted here. www.brooklynskyscrapers.org/directions.html It's a sod farm surrounded with numerous other crops. We typically fly over the sod, which is another 3/4 mile in on the dirt road, at the cross roads. If the weather is calm, you'll typically find flyers there. I'm over 100 miles away, so I only fly when I see a forecast with a few good days in a row, and can camp out.
