I feel as though Reynolds nearly faded out of existence in terms of film roles 5-10 years ago, but then deadpool happened and people realised he wasn’t the Brad Pitt leading man, but effectively a comic actor, and now he’s one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood. And the fact he seems like a great guy makes me happy for him… also Jodie Comer >

It's even more impressive considering Deadpool was his baby that he campaigned for and pushed through the studio machine for several years.
@Tuosma

He's always been viewed as a comedic leading man, no-one has thought him to be a brad pitt. Otherwise, you're right.
@NedTesco
@NedTesco 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tuosma Fair point, though there was a period where he was very much being pushed as "hot hunk who can also be funny", whereas now it seems he is more being used as "funny guy who is also helpfully very good-looking" if that makes sense. As in they're leaning more on his charisma/likeability than looks now.

How is gaming not mainstream when it now regularly makes more money than the movie industry?
@Yorosero
@Yorosero 2 жыл бұрын
It might be the making more money than movies, but it's still a medium that most people past 40 (the people in the powerful positions and senior roles in society) know little about beyond the surface level. Give it another 10 years and things will completely change.
@martye462

@@Yorosero you do realise that video games have been around since the late 70s? I'm in my 50s and grew up with video games - initially in arcades, but then on home consoles and PC - then phones.
@Yorosero
@Yorosero 2 жыл бұрын
@@martye462 What video games were then and what they are now is as different or more to what silent black and white cinema is to a modern production. The average politician or executive might have dabbled in a bit of Donkey Kong and Street Fighter in the 80's or even FFVII in the late 90's, but that still places them well behind fully comprehending what the medium has become and its potential. In my experience guys who've gamed consistently for 3 or 4 decades and are always in the know are a rare breed.

@@Yorosero I would agree that most politicians/executives probably haven't had that much exposure to gaming. I do think you've wholly underestimated the impact that gaming has had on the over 40s though. Amongst my colleagues (all bar 1 above 40, 3 of us over 50) we all played games pretty extensively. Ranges from early arcade games, home computers, consoles and of course phones. Most common titles are FIFA, GTA, WoW & Fortnite. You also forget that at our venerable age, we may have had kids who were equally into gaming exposing us to more recent titles.

Surprisingly good. Doesn't lean on its references too hard but is aimed at gamers. Still can be enjoyed by non gamers

It seems like everyone, judging from the first trailer, expecting this film to be terrible (and it didn’t look great tbf) but actually it sounds like it’s pretty enjoyable. Most reviews seems to have been surprisingly positive

Gaming is MORE mainstream than movies at this point, more people played GTA than saw the last Avengers movie.

Ryan is a big fan of the Dark Souls series. He did a small skit for the new Elden Ring trailer at a place that is a big hall where they show loads of game trailers where kids and adults who like to play games even in there 60's cause its better than being married to modern women these days.

Definitely short on laughs, which is surprising as Ryan's humour usually works for me. Incredibly saccharine, which paired with that relentless Mariah tune had my toes curling towards the end. It'll work for young gamers though.

As a gamer, there was lots to love about the film but not all the jokes work! Some jokes feel like they should be in a different film & the main villain guy who owned the game was so annoying, but overall it makes you smile while watching!

The Truman Show, The Lego Movie, Ready Player One and of course Wreck It Ralph recombined and executed competently. Won't win any awards, or stand out in the long-term, but no-one will hate it or find it boring either.

I don’t see any value in watching someone read their written review. Just have bullet points. The wordy description of the Jodie Comer character highlights why. Aside, I’m sure she was the MVP unless she was the mechanically propelled vehicle of the film. The only bit of forced spontaneity in the review was liking fewer scenes in the real world like any assassins creed release? The games were almost entirely weighted toward the gaming world and have now all but done away with the real world portions. Also, a self confessed gamer saying gaming isn’t mainstream!?
