I was 25 years old when I bought my first bike in 1982 - a KZ750 light blue metalflake - I put 75,000 miles on that bike in 4 years . Completely wore it out - the seat was the first thing to go ... I don't know if you remember this tidbit - do you know what happens when you over rev those bikes ? The ignition shuts down - no more spark - you cannot crank it until and unless you remove a spark plug wire and ground it to the engine block or frame . Then it is good to go ... I still remember the day I rode that bike off the lot ... I loved that bike ... Oh yeah, I originally forgot to add this part - The starter went out sometime during the second year - but I never got it fixed because the bike was so easy to start - even when cold and using the manual choke - I could push the bike while sitting on it and pop the clutch in second gear and it would start every time . Fast forward to 2019 - I got a Kawasaki Z900 . I love it even more than that 750 . It is only about 30 pounds heavier and more than double the horsepower and it rides and handles much more smoothly though . I liked the 2019 so much - I bought another one as soon as the 2020 models came out . So now I have a red and black and a blue and grey . The 2019 only has ABS - the 2020 has 2 power modes and 4 traction modes along with ABS ...

On Temu Motorcycle wiring connections are $2.87 or something like that, thats for a kit,....and copper washer kits, o-ring kits I just get the stuff you can't get at Harbor freight. And 70/30 and 60/40 solder is $2.50-$5.50 8mm for wiring, and Rosin is around $2.50. Unbelievable video. Great job.

I have matching black 1983 Kz’s. I have the 550 and the 750. Both are the LTD models. In-line 4-cylinders. The Twins aren’t YET collectible, which is why to keep it on the side and polish it. Twin cylinder with only two carbs is more reliable, I think. But still. You got a little gem.

cool - I got a question - what is your riding style ? Do you just hang with the traffic and ride passively ? or do you actively stay in front or behind and ride rather aggressively to make sure you stay in those ' safer zones ' ? I do the latter - I never stay statically inline with the general traffic - I am almost always punching out ahead or hanging behind to make space between me and everyone else - In all the years - I have only had a handful of close calls - well maybe two handfuls - lol
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures 3 жыл бұрын

Tom thanks for the reply. I just checked the ohm on the coil and it is in spec on ohms. Just watched another tube video on timing. I am thinking I am not get the spark to hit on TDC so I am going to check the plate and points to see if the points begin to open when the “F” letter can be seen behind the plate. I gotta hand it to all the u tubers out there and the knowledge that gets passed along.....I think I could do brain surgery......well only after I get this bike going😳. The bike 1980, only has about 14,000 miles on it and has been garaged kept the whole while I have owned it. It’s been two years since I had it running but with all the free time we have back here in Chicagoland I have no excuse not to work on it. I may shout back at you again as I am determined to fix it. It would cost way more than the value of the bike to take it to a bike mechanic and it has to be something simple because it was running fine, then it wouldn’t start. Stay safe.

Marcus Cutright I got lucky that it started easily. First thing to do is pull the spark plugs and maybe put a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder. Turn it over slowly. Check to see if it has spark. Clean the fuel system, tank and carburetor. Get a new air filter, change the oil. It’s probably going to run like new.
