I'm with Foster Love in Arkansas and we are getting a closet set up in Little Rock. If anyone has plus sized teen clothes we would love them!

What an amazing and well-organized shop! We don't have anything like this in our area, but when we had a placement of four kids dropped at our door with only the clothes on their backs, I know we spent like $1500 in the first two weeks to get them all the things they needed, as school was just getting ready to start as well. Something like this would have been a HUGE blessing! Kudos to Hope's Closet for really setting a high bar for other similar programs!

I had no idea this place existed in Cincinnati and will definitely keep it in mind for my future donations. There’s another amazing non profit in Cincinnati that takes clothes donations for transgender teens and young adults. It’s called Transform and was started by the mother of a trans teen when she realized that replacing a whole wardrobe with gender affirming clothes can be a huge barrier for trans and gender non conforming teens. They have a stylist help them pick out a whole new wardrobe for free and recently expanded their services to young adults up to 24. If you ever need another place to donate or have a trans or gender non conforming teen who might benefit, keep it in mind!

I love what Hope’s Closset does. Foster Children deserve decent clothing, accessories and toys.

Wow! Hope’s Closet is so impressively organized and tidy, looks nicer than most retail stores I’ve been in! I love that this exists. We have some solid resources like that near me too, that I know I will lean on when I start my journey in the next year or so to become a foster caregiver. And in the meantime I am supporting them as I can to make sure they can continue supporting kids in care.

This is such an amazing resource. I'm so impressed. Thank you for showing this. I'm going to research and see if we have something similar in our area to volunteer for and donate. If not I want to try and get something started. What an invaluable resource for foster families.

That one is much nicer than the one in Mesa, Arizona. That’s a nice place. Love that they had a good supplies of baby equipment.

I love how you are pro reunification and what really breaks my heart is that foster parents get a per diem, but nobody is willing to give that financial support to the families. Where I live, foster and kinship families get a fair amount per month in per diems and then the kids also get quarterly clothing vouchers, new shoes when they want/need, recreation fund money for bikes and camp and rec passes etc etc etc, AND vacation money for trips. Imagine if a bio fam had all that, along with the social supports fosters and kinships get. It's a lot easier to resolve protection concerns when you have all your other needs met. I wish instead of spending time and money placing kids, they'd spend that time and money on making the family home safer from the start. Imagine if a bio family had a hopes closet.

Regarding community resources for the website: I love that idea because as much as I would love to volunteer as CASA I am unable to commit to it rn being in PA school so I would love to volunteer or give back something in the short term. The problem is a lot of the fostering needs are based on county and state based so an idea would also be a guide on how to look up ways to help in each person’s county/state

I am glad you guys do not donate to Goodwill. It is actually legal for them to pay disabled employees less than they would pay able bodied workers. I try not to shop there.
