Every young man is tested, but only the strong survive.
After the death of his mother Brooklyn Teenager Danny Molloy flies to Australia to find his father Nat, who lives on a lonesome farm in the Australian outback, with a girlfriend and her daughter Stevie. Because work on the farm isn't going well, Nat begins to smuggle marijuana for a drug connection. Danny catches a flight with Nat to make a drop and the plane crashes in the middle of nowhere. His father bitten by a snake, Danny has to search for help alone in the jungle.
Initiation is a 1987 Australian adventure drama thriller film directed by Michael Pearce based on his idea and starring Bruno Lawrence and Rodney Harvey. Keep an eye out for the shieldmaiden herself, MIRANDA OTTO!

I remember when Bobby Smith the aboriginal actor , kulu, came to Adelaide in mid 1986 to do the filming of this movie. He stayed at the same accommodation base as many of us indigenous people lived , Luprina Hostel in Salisbury. He would stay a few nights, with filming done out of town from early morning till late afternoon to early evenings ... And some days he'd be away for a couple of days or a week at different times. He was a friendly old chap and liked his smokes n drinks when he was resting . I think he mentioned he was from north of Adelaide up in the northern part of South Australia. He was a real gentleman and a real bushman. Didn't really fit in with the city life ...

Different, because I am Australian there were a couple of weird things in this movie that could not have occured. Like flying from Central Australia to some flourishing bush area in half an hour, and I am pretty sure the Native Australians don't use clear quartz Chrystals. I am glad they had Aboriginal actors in this. RIP to the two main actors. Thanks for the upload . Worth a watch !!

No he learned how to become a man and to save his father. His father only wanted him to learn responsibility and learn how to become a man. Great movie what an awesome ending, the older guy was directing him in the good way.

Relieved of survival ending! Compared to watching "OUTBACK" a couple days ago.😮 Brutal dessert terrain....as compared to forest, waterfalls and caves. Super flick!

Luv the Aussie scenery. They have so many different species of animals. The kid was a good actor.The older actors were good too. Good story. AUSTRALIA is an interesting country. I like the Aboriginies too. I think they treat them better in this century. Ive never been there, but I think they have a lot of good actors, and make great movies.

It started out a bit slow, but it was a good movie I REALLY was happy he finally made it and he was there to save his Dad's life if he wasn't his Dad would not have made it. I seen the handrail and said aha life existence.
