Yes you have to have a USB eLicenser. A software version does not work. I tried it.

Well, I appreciate the work you do to find and demonstrate these little things. I wouldn't dare to try telling or even advising you what to cover or not. Also, I don't mind limited offers as well, my suggestion of dividing things into three categories (which I maned spontaneously) is only about adding some more clarity of description.

Greedo Kenobi, I've read all the comments, including yours. So, I think that you are not asking for any explanation of my words, but fishing for the excuse to once more insist on the idea that a requirement for a non-free hardware restriction dongle doesn't make a program non-free. To cut the long story short, I disagree with this view of things and find it outright wrong and intentionally misleading therefore deceptive. I proposed three self-explanatory categories, only one of them is problematic. I'm not sure whether it would be less "triggering" and more "politically correct" if I gave it some vague name such as "limited offers", but that name just didn't come to my mind when I was writing the comment. And I was not objecting against reviewing those "limited offers", I suggested that viewers be warned, at leas in the description.

I am not sure, I only had an eLicencer here during testing. I think not. On their website it says: Please note that you need a ViennaKey (or other USB eLicenser, e.g., by Steinberg) to run the Big Bang Orchestra.

The iLok will not for this library, but VSL is selling an eLicenser key for about $15.00.

e-Licenser is not iLok, therefore it will not work. At one point the bigger company buys the smaller one, they can integrate and we could stick with one. Right now due to conflict of interest, there is no intention to integrate into one.

@@PaulBrownclk-me I understand what you mean but FREE is a global term meaning that the end user should have no other needs but to download the software and install. 60 percent of the people interested in this do not have that dongle and so have no need for the item since a purchase is necessary.

Evan Anderson requiring a dongle is no different to requiring a computer , mouse , keyboard , internet access, or monitor ... You need each to be able to use this free software, the fact is you can download the software and it won't cost you a penny... Whether you have the right hardware to use the software is another matter.

If you want totally free, you need Cakewalk by Bandlab. It is a bit limited, and no longer works on Mac, but works on Windows 10.

The only thing you have to give up is your privacy.

Nope. I am a Cubase user so for me it is free. Like for thousands of other users that have a dongle. Until now I have never been payed by any brand or distributor. We are not interesting for them.
