After a lot of trial and error changing my serve after tendinitis, this really helped get rhythm. Still struggling to do it in point play, but the initial improvement was significant

It's not gong to take every time. But, he has the knowledge. Now, it takes a few hundred serves to build muscle memory and then a few hundred more to make it effortless.

Honestly tucking the elbow gives more range of motion to generate power for your swing. Kinda like swinging your racket only halfway on a forehand. Look at Federer serving in slow mo. He drops his elbow. Whose advice are you gonna take, Serena’s former coach, or Roger freaken Federer?
@IamnotJohnFord
@IamnotJohnFord 14 күн бұрын
@@Smoshylife Probably the coach. I've seen videos saying not to try to copy Federer too much. He's just built different and you'll never be able to do what he does. I tend to agree on some things. Federer has a massive coil on his serve that many club players can't use well.

What about loosening the grip after the trophy pose. I find that helps my wrist to be more flexible. Tight grip make my wrist stiff.

I did a full wrist flick on serve a few times, incredible serves but got hurt right away.
@IamnotJohnFord
@IamnotJohnFord Ай бұрын
I think he means to let the wrist be relaxed and fluid. Do NOT flick the wrist or you risk injury. Let the wrist be flexible so the arm can act as a whip powered by the whole body. Otherwise, it becomes more wrist.
@jvo3777
@jvo3777 27 күн бұрын
@@IamnotJohnFord agreed. If I could do the wrist flick, I could become a 5.5 server haha.
