Stanislav Aseyev, a former RFE/RL contributor, was held captive by Russia-backed separatists in Ukraine's Donbas region for two and a half years. After being freed in a prisoner swap, he returned to writing. But Aseyev decided that he could do the most good for his country as an enlisted soldier.

Like others who have set aside their lives and joined the fight in Unity, Solidarity and Support for Ukraine they share one common denominator; The courage to put their lives at risk for Human Rights! Slava Ukraini and Glory to the Defenders of Ukraine. That this Glory never ever fade away. Keep the spirit of resistance alive and the torch of Victory burning! 🇺🇦

I attended a lecture with Mr. Asseyev a year ago. He had told everything about his experiences in the torture chambers in Donbas in a very calm, controlled and almost emotionless manner. After the lecture, many of them skipped the aperitif because they had lost their appetite and immediately made their way home. The fact that he is still fighting for his homeland says a lot about his generosity ❤️🇺🇦🇪🇺🇺🇦❤️.

Reminds me of Mowrer. Kicked out of Berlin for reporting negatively on the Nazis, Mowrer was on his way home to England. A Nazi official, assigned to make sure Mowrer actually left Berlin, approached him as he was boarding the train and asked when he was coming back to Germany; Mowrer answered: "Why, when I can come back with about two million of my countrymen."

Quit spreading Russian propaganda that has quite literally never been verified by a single credible source and ignoring the overwhelming evidence of Russia’s widespread use of torture, rape and murder not just in Ukraine but around the world. ICC, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, OSCE, UN Human Rights Council, etc. Check it out sometime if you have even the tiniest conscience.

@@Dudush90 The type of torture he described is well documented and used by Russia against POWs in this war and previous wars, against their own political prisoners, against civilians in occupied territories. This is documented by the UN and multiple international human rights organizations and the ICC. And it isn’t being shocked by answering the phone. That’s not how it works - it’s a known technique that has been used for years. Maybe try educating yourself before mocking people who are victims of war crimes. Now go back to your troll factory and stop defending genocide.
