Had the opportunity to take the kayaks out on an adventure and freedive Clear Lake, Oregon. Water temperature was a cool 35 degrees and the outside temperature was not much warmer. Awesome day of exploring!

For any diver: Please try not to touch the trees in the lake, there are lots of fragments coming off from the trees if touched or even pushed/shook. They have been preserved for more than 3000 years, left them the same as when came here. Have a good dive!

That vis is amazing! I would have never expected for lake Oregon. I guess it’s so deep and cold
@borce323 жыл бұрын
Yes its very cold. Around 37 degrees F

It would be awesome to have the State drop some diamond-like cut glass objects in the bottom of the lake. As the sun shines down on them, that lake would glitter like one big prism.
@borce322 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would be amazing! Perfect lake for it. Never seen anything as clear and pristine.

I barely made it. The fish are stocked in the Summer. The very cold water does not provide many food sources so fish are scarce in the Winter.

This is what I’ve been dreaming of doing since I moved here! Do you offer lessons? Also a gear list would be so helpful!

vagabondroller apnea trainer is the way to go! Good work man 💪🏼🙂

Apnea trainer works great, I’ve only been doing it a month but I went from 1:30 to 2:45. Bought a used 7mm suit and a crappy JBL mini carbine. Going to start practicing inside the jetty at Half Moon Bay. Thanks for posting good content of North Coast spearfishing, It’s good motivation and I’m learning a lot from your channel.
@borce324 жыл бұрын
vagabondroller awesome to hear that and thanks for the support. Just keep practicing and in another month you’ll be up to 4 minutes.

easy breath hold. I normally free dive in salt water and I tried it in a lake yesterday and I sank like a rock, why do you need a weight belt? Maybe the boincy is different ?
@blakecarrigan40684 жыл бұрын
Yeah saltwater makes you significantly more buoyant than freshwater

It's never too late my friend. Get out there and get some swim lessons. Swimming is an awesome hobby and exercise.

Where are the fish ?

Jesus Cabrera no fish on that side. They are more in the other side of the lake.

I need to improve my free diving skills, what should I do?
@borce326 жыл бұрын
I would practice static breath holding and try to dive more often. I use an app called "Apnea Trainer" it allows you to practice your breath holding and improve. I would also recommend taking a freediving class. Dan at Oregon Freediving Company holds awesome classes you should check him out!

I was looking at the JBL spearguns and wanted this. www.jblspearguns.com/product/woody-elite-series/ I want to do the lingcod spearfishing that you do but I have a Rob Allen snapper 110. Do you think this is a good speargun to get?
@bengeis87996 жыл бұрын
The woody elite custom
@borce326 жыл бұрын
Ben Geis are you going to be fishing in the pacific northwest? A 110 is too big for diving at the jetty. The visibility is so bad at times that a gun that big you will barely be able to see the tip so I would stick to something smaller like the woody 38 special
@bengeis87996 жыл бұрын
I will be diving in Northern California and I was thinking of going to the jetty in a few weeks.
@gomezbr13 жыл бұрын
held my breath, it looks like i can dive to 75 ft.
@borce323 жыл бұрын
Brandon Gomez nice work! Its much harder going down to that depth in real life since you’re burning up oxygen kicking and the pressure compresses your lungs but its a start 👏🏼🙂
@kingkole8083 жыл бұрын
you should try kicking down slower on the way down and up saves oxygen honestly i was expecting you to hangout on the bottom for a bit not just touch bottom and panic swim to the top
@jonrichards68723 жыл бұрын
Do you still dive in Oregon?
@borce323 жыл бұрын
Jon yes I do, broke my spear shaft last dive and i’m waiting on a new one. Its been a while but will be releasing more videos soon. I’ll be putting out one of me spearing 2 halibut in Alaska last year.

Borce Atanasov sounds super cool man! Can’t wait to see more videos. Oh no, that’s too bad. Hope it comes soon for you. Im looking to get started in spear fishing. I’m out of Portland. Been wanting to freedive and spearfish for a while. Now, I want to pull the trigger on it. I’m excited.

I made it 75ft deep and I'm 10... I can hold my breath for 65 sec
@borce325 жыл бұрын
Stian good work keep it up. My static breath hold PR is 5:02, and my deepest dive is 102ft. Its much harder to hold your breath and swim as your body is using up oxygen at a MUCH quicker rate. Plus your lungs are getting more and more compressed the deeper you dive so it makes it much harder. Keep up the hard work and maybe one day you’ll be a free-diving champion 🙂
@stianfraser94765 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I can dive 20 feet deep at the max. And I know it was harder for u in the vid. Good work 👌
