Freedom Planet 2 is probably one of my favorite 2D action platformer. Also enjoyed the story more than I expected. My favorite character being Mayor Zao.

This game feels criminally underrated. I haven’t seen an indie game with this much heart and soul poured into it since Undertale. It has SO much going for it; a large cast of charming and interesting characters that are easy to love (even the villains) an intriguing story with high stakes and well-written humor, fun levels and thrilling boss fights, great world building and lore, and *the voice acting!* The actors did such a bang up job bringing such emotion and life into the characters! And the designers did phenomenally to make the levels both enjoyable and challenging. Definitely a masterpiece in my opinion! 👏👏👏

Freedom Planet 1: 8 bit Freedom Planet 2: 16 bit Blast processing does exists!!

Many people say that the sequel to a movie or game is often less enthusiastic than the prequel, which in some cases are true. FP1 was great, but FP2 absolutely nailed it, both in story, sprites, cutscenes, gameplay and ofc music. This is how you do a f***ing sequel. It may have lasted about 7 years since the first announcement, but the eternity of waiting was worth it.

This sequel actually justified waiting 6 years for it & 1 year of "coming soon." And the final final boss was actually good. It was kind of easy once you got its moves memorized, but all these bosses are like that. The funny part is that the game doesn't make you restart the whole level if you lose to it, as well. 😂 Don't really get your hopes up too high about the Lord Brevon part, though. I really liked the ending, too. I'd put Freedom Planet 2 right under Celeste, tbh.

Cannot agree more: Freedom Planet 2 is platforming perfection. Just about everything offered is a drastic improvement from an already great franchise. Great video and i completely agree about the second Corazon fight!

Freedom planet really has accomplished what Sonic Mania did in 2017, especially in terms of blending music and video games

Will you do a vid on the additional content? Like the art museum, Gongs training dojo, and the battlesphere challenges & time-capsules? Collecting all the time-capsules & the results of doing so is one of my favorite parts, especially since it unlocks the true-ending!!!

Honestly, for me Merga leaves even more impact than Brevon on the story but... you need the true ending to get why, just let me say without spoilers what you get out of her if you get all time capsules will be a big surprise, especially considering her characterization all up to this moment

I'll say this much: I am NOT good at the game, definitely less so than I was at the first one, but I really like it nonetheless. The story in particular surprised me. I started off feeling kind of eh about it, but it definitely grew on me a lot as it progressed.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. This was a decent review, but did you have to spoil so much end game content? Especially the true ending? I'm only halfway through the Lilac campaign and would have loved to have been surprised by the true ending.

Unpopular Opinion, this was better then any Sonic 2D platformer by a country mile. Better Story, better levels, better action, more interesting characters, better LORE like it does so much right. I really do hope we get a 3rd game.

As much as I freaking loved that game, Merga didn't hold a candle to Brevon imo.

As I said in another FP2 review, the sequel feels half-baked. Yes, it has great gameplay, interesting level concepts/callbacks, VA direction is decent, pixelart is fantastic and the likes but besides that, the worldbuilding is a nice improvement from the first game, however the story campaigns are a jumbled mess (there's hardly any movement in terms of character arcs, it's more of a deconstruction of characters / retcons / plotholes / forced plots & story twists that are unneeded, except for some things & instances), new characters are alright to terrible, some items are missing/unrequired, the audio design is awkward, the levels go on too long or otherwise, some music are good but other tracks aren't fitting or could had used more work. Just because a game looks good doesn't mean it's polished (even if they had a long time to address these issues), but if you enjoy the game, have fun with it. You vote with your wallet.
