Sweet! I hope people appreciate the amount of effort on your part to position the camera and provide the lighting necessary to capture what is going on with the timing issue. You really hit it out of the park with this. I've watched a lot of videos on this subject, and nobody has done it better than you. U da man!

Thanks. This is a subject where the visuals HAVE to be ultra clear. I confess that during the editing process, I went back and shot some of these scenes several times until I was happy with it. Glad it was helpful.

"Approximately" LoL So much for my fancy-schmancy toothpick with a blue painter's tape grippy-tab that I've marked with 1/16" timing lines. I really appreciate this 15 series and all the detail you've provided. I haven't rehabbed a 15 yet, but I've got 3 sitting in my queue.

The fancy thing you made is great for machines without timing marks and that aren't pinned in place at the factory, so don't give up on a great idea! BTW - Just about EVERY Singer manual says "approximately", so don't despair...

In Pakistan people still made 15 class machines like in late 19 century. You can see all process here on youtube. Also I have a pic about positioning shuttle and shuttle race on this "left type" class.

Your videos helped alot. I am taking several singers here in PH. I learned from you that 15s are factory set. I still have a hard time with the timing. The thread was successfully taken by the hook but as it goes around the shuttle, the thread loop does not successfully goes up but instead goes back. Do I need to adjust the needle bar height?

Hello Mr. Bob I have the same one and it doesn't sew. I made the adjustments you showed in this video, but it still doesn't sew. Push 4-5 times and then break the thread. Please sir what could he have. God bless you.

Quick question: I have a singer 201-2 and I have been trying to time it because it some times skips stitches and the thread keeps breaking. I have looked at your videos about timing which have helped me adjust the sewing bar height, but when I go to loosen the two screws underneath (gear connected to shaft) in order to adjust hook timing the gear will not move. Do you know how I can free it? Thanks in advance

Many times, the gears "crud weld" themselves to the shafts. In that case, you have to flood the shaft to gear connection with penetrating oil and help it loosen up. Gentle application of heat may also help.

@@BobFowlerWorkshop Thanks so much for the quick reply! I am still having trouble loosening it though. I have stuffed rubber bands in between the gears so I can attack with the balance wheel and then I stuck a screwdriver below the bobbin. No luck! I used WD40 as a penetrating oil, but maybe that is not enough? Idk got any more tricks?🥴 Is there a tool that would help do this? Engineer soft jaw to hold the shaft?
