Freeman Thomas Is The MASTERMIND Behind The Audi TT

Freeman Thomas always finds subtle and creative ways to ingrain echoes of days gone by into his designs. Don't be mistaken. This isn't outright retrofuturism. Thomas incorporates automotive history as well as his own life experiences into his cars to give them a level of approachability and familiarity that is noticeably absent in today’s industry.
Freeman Thomas has designed cars such as the Audi TT, Ford Interceptor, and Dodge Super8.
Thomas really has done a bit of everything in his career, from contributing to the Porsche 911 and changing the narrative of Audi in North America to holding leadership positions at two of the Detroit 3 and reimagining motoring masterworks from days gone by. And he’s been able to make an impression on both his companies and his colleagues. Freeman Thomas has ingrained a bit of the past in every one of his projects and is definitely an industry icon!

Lovely video. Freeman has been a personal friend of me and my family for many years and it is always a treat to spend a day with him. Incredibly knowledgeable but also very humble. I always enjoy our time together.

Great video, amazing designer!! in fact, I had the pleasure to have my mobility design project chosen and comented by Freeman Thomas in a global competition...that was one of the most important moments in my life.

What strikes me about Freeman Thomas is how articulate he is as a designer. Most designers let their pens do all the talking, but Thomas has the rare ability to express concepts and his design process in words that non-designers can understand.

Hi your work is alway top drawer, I so enjoy learning more bouts Freeman Thomas. I am a died in the wool 8N TT owner and fan. Here is my question, I have put together a little video (home made with Movie Maker Pro) that is a bunch of TT ads from the late 1990s and early 2000s, plus a video that Audi made for introducing the new TT to Audi brand representatives. At the end I've placed your video about Freeman. I've fully given you the credit for the Thomas/Barchetta video portion. Before I share this with anyone I want your permission. I was born in 93 and I used to see these everywhere growing up after they came out, nowadays I see one maybe every year or two, they must have had longevity reliability problems.

Not really. 1.8T usually burns a bit of oil, and can have sludge issues if improper oil and care. Otherwise bulletproof, paired with the 02m trans. MK1 TT 1.8T custom top mount big turbo, manifold, downpipe, fresh rebuilt engine new OEM pistons , rings and forged rods. All done myself.
