I noticed my dad's ring with a red stone in it when I was a kid & he said it was a Mason ring. I said what's a Mason? He said "I can't tell you." I said why can't you tell me?" He said "I'm not supposed to tell anyone." 30+ years later a Mason I worked with said I should join the Masons. I asked "Why?" He said "I can't tell you." I said then I can't join.

I was a Master Mason and a Royal Arch mason, involved in Rosicrucianism and such. I discovered Orthodoxy because of Freemasonry. We had a painting in the lodge I found fascinating "The ladder of Divine Scent". I researched about the painting at home, and that's how I found Orthodoxy. I resigned and I was baptised 2 years ago. Freemasonry looks like a charity for the average Freemason, but if you spend countless of unpaid hours working for the craft and show interest in spirituality, is when they start to invite you to other Lodges that are invite only and very isolated. There is where you find more weird stuff and even Crowley followers, especially if you are invited in Rosicrucian circles.

I went through an interesting time in college. While searching for the true Faith I was also preparing to become an apprentice in the Pittsburgh Freemason Lodge. I was wrestling on going through with it and after the Lord guided me to the right path, I had cancelled my initiation 1 day before it was supposed to happen. Forever thankful that the Lord protected me and put Orthodoxy in my life at the same time Satan was attempting to steal me. Glory to God ☦️

I was sadly a Freemason for a period of time and thank God I left them. I only stayed in until I was a Master Mason (3°), but I encountered a lot of weirdos that were way into the occult and other demonic practices. There were quite a few brothers in my lodge that openly stated to me that Masonry was their religion. Once I began inquiring into Orthodoxy I got out ASAP. It's definitely a form of a cult that masquerades as a social club.

I am currently 23 and was heavily active in the Lodge immediately after my 18th birthday. I made my way through the chairs fairly rapidly and advanced through the degrees headstrong - not fully knowing what I was getting into. It wasn’t until last year and discovering Christ and His Church that I was saved from that wretchedness. It is an easy trap for a young man to fall into, and while appearing harmless, is absolutely detrimental to your soul. I was involved in the AODA (ancient order of druids in America) which is a masonic druid organization, thanks to John Michael Greer. I was under the impression that it was all good up until I was virtually dismissed in my assessments of the world because of my status, and ultimately sensed that I was not welcome in the least bit, popping bubbles like a devils advocate I was, talking about the bible and economics, and then watching their reactions. I was a punk at heart and I did not fall in line with their demands or beliefs, they were warned. I see the world crumbling and see what's going wrong but we were not at all on the same page. Thank God I had that experience before I explored Orthodoxy and thank you for sharing this, this helps explain that hostility I felt.

It amazes me that someone who claims to be a Christian and also a Freemason cannot see the direct conflict or natural polarity between the two. The only freemasonry I ever saw before I converted was an interesting interaction between a couple of people in the third position I used to listen to. One was a very naturalistic stoic and the other was a Mason. I was on my way to being a Christian and it was confusing to me how these 2 third position people hated Christianity so much when it seemed to be a perfect fit for uniting people under one banner. Later I learned that the pagans and masons hated Christianity and discovered that their ideas would just lead to the same atrocities I was attempting to avoid.

My father became involved with it when we were young children. They even have a Masonic Bible that's a King James version. Must wait 20 lb. Anyway, He excelled quickly but it's because it was social more family oriented and Christian oriented in that particular chapter and that particular era. On the surface. It was also very family-orient ed. Then they ask him to commit and immoral act. 😡 I remember my father being sort of pale and he was tanned at the time for a couple of days or three or four. I found it later years but he went to his pastor and repented of the involvement and they prayed and he left the Masonic lodge and we moved quickly. Out of South Florida to North Florida. They speak well of Christ yet reject all of His Apostles, which today are the Orthodox Church. They change "Jesus" into their image and hate His untwistable Image in our Church and in our Saints.

I have a sort of question related to this; it’s about a friend who recently found Holy Orthodoxy, him and his family were catechumens for about a year in a small mission parish belonging to a canonical jurisdiction, and were then baptized during this year’s great lent. Since his first visit to the parish, he told me about where the mission is located and that sort of information, which is at the home of one of the founders who contacted the diocesan cathedral to solicitate the foundation of an Orthodox mission in his city and who remains until this day as a member of the Church alongside his family. All of this seemed great to me until he informed me more about the members of the parish, particularly about said founding member and ahis friend, both openly masons, even distinguished members of the local lodge, with all sorts of distinctively masonic symbols alongside figures/idols of different far-eastern religions, this same house has an improvised chapel at the top floor to celebrate the monthly divine liturgy. Now, inside the chapel proper there are no weird symbols or idols (except for a “host-holder” like the ones in the RCC), but he's still creeped out by the fact that there are elements of such different worlds under the same roof and fears that the mason has bad intentions (which I wouldn’t doubt). So, trying to help, I advised him to speak directly to his priest, and after that he told me that the father said before anything else that masonry has nothing to do with the Church, and that it’s something this guy (the mason) keeps to himself, that even the father’s objective is for him to renounce masonry through the life of the Church. My friend’s a little comforted by the plans the priest has shared with all the parishioners, which is to build an official chapel at a different location in the same city due to the mission’s growth. Nonetheless, by the passing of time this situation has taken its toll on him, he no longer knows what to do, especially because going to another parish isn’t an option since he lives in a Latin American country with very little Orthodox presence and doesn’t want his family and him to stop receiving the holy mysteries. Finally, I too don’t know what else to do to help him, and I can especially understand his struggle because it was also very hard for me to find a Church when coming into Orthodoxy. Nor do I know if suggesting a talk with his bishop would be beneficial, after all, the bishop must have known about this situation for years now and doesn’t seem to have bothered him. ¿What would you advise, father?

Leo Taxil was a hoax. Some of what he said may have been true but the legitimacy of his argument can easily be torn apart by the people who subscribe to these beliefs. As a former Mason, I agree with Fr Heers analysis, but would heavily caution using Taxil as a source

Our Orthodox priest was invited with his wife to a freemason meeting and both got ordination . He says it's not a big deal,just a costume show. Does he have a right to continue as a priest and serve liturgies? He is a very cold and indifferent person and many left his parish ,but some stayed and the new parishioners are not aware of it

I’m a brother in great standing with my lodge and I attend church with my wife every Sunday, go to Bible study, pray before meals and throughout the day, volunteer my time serving alongside others for the church! Here’s the thing with masonry is that you make it what you want to make it! Its just a way of living to become a better person. It’s not a religion but we do pray to god before and after lodge meetings. If masonry was satanic I would have no involvement in it! I believe in 1 God and one God only and that his sun Jesus died for us on the cross.

My grandfather, who I never met, was a Mason (I believe 33 degree). He passed away about 10 years before I was born. My mother only knows because they were at his wake. It’s odd, because he was a Roman Catholic, and I know membership is a no-no in Catholicism (I’ve since learned more about Masonic involvement with high ranking Vatican officials who were Masons, which may have a lot to do with thing such as the modern mass and papal infallibility). My family left the Catholic Church when I was 15, joining a local Protestant church (an offshoot of the Plymouth Brethren). I left the church in my early 20s, spent almost a decade as an atheist, then agnostic, and for a minute a gnostic. I finally got back on track in my 30s. Over the last few years, I’ve considered joining a lodge; I love esoteric symbolism and even ritual, something that is lacking, imho, in most Protestant churches (along with the moving away from the foundations of Christianity in those churches, again imho). Over the last year or so, I’ve felt more and more pulled towards Orthodoxy; the more I learn, the more I become interested, and excited, something that hasn’t happened to me through a Christian church since I was a teenager. I have put aside the notion of joining a lodge and am pursuing joining a church; I just have to find the one that feels right for me. With all of that said- what is it, specifically in doctrine, that makes becoming a Mason incompatible with Christianity, and in particular Orthodoxy?

They are builders who rejected (or are free from) the cornerstone. Funny thing is that they are about as far from being free that one could possibly be, spiritually and in the flesh.

Gnosticism is similar to protestantism in that it has no means of settling doctrinal disputes, it's not coherent, therefore it splits up into sect after sect after sect and never stops.

I was initiated as an Entered Apprentice last month. I renounced it to my Father a week ago. I was not a Mason very long. I studied long and hard about Masonry before I joined. We would pray to Christ before meals. I prayed to Christ before my initiation. You can find all of their literature online. Masonry has two bodies. The Blue Lodge and the Red Lodge. The Blue Lodge is meant to be a representation of the Temple of Solomon. There are 3 degrees in the Blue Lodge Temple of Solomon, and it is entirely based on Old Testament scripture. This is why Masonry seems to tolerate all religions. Once you reach the 3rd degree, Master Mason, you are offered the opportunity to proceed into what they call the Appendant Bodies of Masonry. These are Red Lodge bodies. It seems to me that you are reading philosophy from the Scottish Rite, which is blatantly anti Christian and extremely Gnostic. The Scottish Rite here in America is the brainchild of Albert Pike, who was a Confederate general. You are not obligated to participate in the rituals of the Scottish Rite. There are other rites that a Master Mason can explore. One of these being the York Rite, which is exclusively Christian, and the final degree in that rite requires an oath to uphold and protect the Christian faith to the death. It is important to remember that Masonry is inherently Western. The West is not familiar with the concepts of Theosis within Christianity. A lot of Masonry, especially in America, was seen historically as an answer to the lack of divination in American Protestantism. Masonry itself is fractured just like any other faith on the Earth. There are brothers in Masonry who do not like the anti-Christian rhetoric in some appendant bodies. There are some who do not like Christians. They typically don’t associate with each other, and likewise their resources are segregated. Whatever money the gnostic bodies have is their own. Whatever money the Christian bodies have is their own. I hope this is somewhat informative. I ultimately left because I wish to be baptized and participate in the eucharist.

Another checkmark on why I know Christianity is real. This is the exact opposite of what we want but they are still obsessed with men from the Bible and baphomet. In the Secret Book of John, aka, the Apocryphon of John, the Savior gives the best description of God the Father, as distinct from the Demiurge who masquerades as god in the Old Testament and who constantly demands sacrifice; in particular, child sacrifice.

I think you’re somewhat misunderstanding the Freemasons and Gnostics. They are both occultists, but they are in opposition to each other. The Freemasons believe in the “Supreme Architect of the Universe” while the Gnostics believe this being and God are the same, evil, being called the “Demiurge”.

But if God created matter why will he reject it?

The squaring of the circle is a symbol in masonry, which at the highest level seems to have been subverted by evil intent at some point in history. A compass draws a circle representing heaven and a square draws a square representing earth. The objective of squaring the circle is to merge heaven and earth, or turn lead into gold. Internally, this is the process of transmuting sexual energy by channeling it from the root chakra back up to the pineal gland (third eye or 6th chakra) and onto the 7th chakra, or the Kingdom of God within that Jesus spoke of.

I just had a question for the chat who claim to be ex-freemasons. Doesn't the lodge also accept Jesus Christ as a diety and the abrahamic god?. I never understood why I here so many claims to be satanic in practice yet they incorporated all regions both good and evil I don't get it.

I am currently a Mason and am trying to discern whether masonry is actually wicked or not. Learning about Albert Pike and Aleister Crowley and what they actually believed has really turned me off to masonry. I’ve had similar encounters with men outright claiming masonry to be their religion. I joined them to try and get closer to God, but now I’m questioning whether these men are actually men of God at all. I’ve also done deep research on the origins of where their strange rituals come from, and I have to say, I really don’t like what I’ve found so far. I’m not defending masonry here, but I’d like to point out that he seems to be making a lot of claims in this video with seemly little evidence to support them. I know masons who are Orthodox priests themselves, and they tell me masonry is okay. And I’ve also met priests that tell me it’s pure evil. At this point I don’t know what to believe. I’m leaning towards leaving them. Can anyone please shed some light on this?

Hi i want to become Orthodox Christian. I have a question though which disturbs me. If i am to find an Orthodox Church near me and get baptised would the baptism be valid if one of the clergy or priests baptising me was a freemason and i didnt know? Also once i become a Orthodox Christian what do you do when Ecumenism keeps trying to change the faith? I hope this make sense. And i know your a busy man but please if possible get back to me.
