I was deaf till I was 3 year with embryonic fluid in my ears. 39 now, has caused a tone of problems. Under developed left front temporal lobe or something like that but I have a near photographic memory to compensate!

Sumandeep Kaur Gill there were a few other close families who were born the same time and they all started talking but I wasn’t. If my mom yelled my name I would look so she didn’t think I was deaf but it must of been like hearing underwater. I’m terrible at spelling and school was really hard. But became a good artist at least:)

I. Became deaf age 7 month old..by time get older has wear hearing aid cos have 80%loss. Both ear i can hear well

Deaf and dumb is an outdated hurtful term. These children and adults are often incredibly intelligent and simply use a different language (sign). There is nothing dumb about that. Perhaps hearing and speech impaired would be more appropriate.
