Great video, thank you. I just got my first scanner 996P2 and I'm learning how to program it. This was very useful. I have one question, was this the free version of Freescan, or did you have to pay to access the frequencies you copied?

Been playing with this and am quite impressed with the software! Uploading and control easy, even for a beginner. It allows you to research frequencies less and read about functionality of the scanner more. Thanks for the upload, ORM!

I miss the days when I could grab my Regency R4020 and just listen to whatever I wanted to with a couple of key punches. The days before trunking were great. Now, you practically need a graduate degree to program these things. And I have a graduate degree. Ugh!

All well and good for someone who has some basic understanding of a scanner. I’m brand new to it. Most of the KZfaq videos I have found ramble on and use language that is totally alien to a newbie. I don’t care about railroad frequencies. I want to be able to listen in on people who are talking to each other about what’s going on around me. (I can’t listen in on police - they went digital and my scanner is analog - at least I know that much!) Can someone suggest a good beginner manual that doesn’t treat a newbie like they already know the basics? Or a KZfaq channel that doesn’t zip through screens and assumes you know what they’re doing?

i have 3 of these 15x's one being brand new because about 3 weeks ago the one i have on my nightstand .. sometimes i turn it off before falling to sleep,and sometimes i fall asleep and wake up in the middle of the night and turn it off. well on this one night it was working fine (audio coming out) when i fell asleep and then when i woke up i seen it was still scanning and stopping on the busy channels but NO audio was present. i turned it off and found time a week or 2 later to look at it , i even tried using a pair of headphones and a ext. speaker but no AUDIO from those as well.. I did a full reset to see if that might fix it but to no avail. i did send uniden a email but its the weekend so i was hoping to hear back from them this week sometime, but your video here doesn't sound like i will . i have a small amount of experience with a soldering iron and even bought a "rework" reflow hot air station that ive used once on a dji drone remote controller with success ;-) any ideas for me before i open up the hood on this thing.. thanks in advance - steve

I noticed you did not select a quick key number from the drop down menu next to the name field, I thought you were supposed to select a quick quick key in order for the scanner to function properly? what happens if I don't select a quick key and program my uniden 996p2 without doing that?

Excellent video. Figured out how to get this scanner programed quickly and easily. Recently the local Sheriff have stopped transmitting on the analog frequency they have been using for years. I imported all of the DTRS statewide channels, and besides the "Public safety" service, is there any way to figure out what frequency they may be on? I read they are building a new Sheriffs office, and am wondering if they are in the process of upgrading the dispatch center. Anyway, thanks for the help.

how do you add different groups for each state and sub groups for each county in that group example State of Indiana as the main grup and ecah county in Indiana as a subgroup not separating fire police sheriffs Ems in sub group example Group 1 Indiana Sub group 1 Mrion county in that group leave in fire EMS police and sheriff Sub group 2 Madison county Include in that sub group Ems fire police and sheriffs ect.

hello the radio uniden bcd996p2 will decode p25 digital audio
