But, looking at it from the horses side, all they all want, and the donkeys and mother and baby Calf is a warm stable in the winter, knee high straw or shavings, plenty of fresh water every day morning and evening, yummy food and treats like chopped apples added. A lovely Pasture with nice horsey friends, and maybe some nice Hacking and Trail riding with an excellent Rider on its back, and,then, lots of good grooming and love and cuddles. I pray that every horse etc in the World gets looked after like this,and Kill Pens are banned from Every Auction!. ❤❤❤😊

Horses are an enormous commitment, so be as picky as you need to be. They can live decades, they are expensive to maintain, they require constant care and love. Think of it this way: Horses are much nicer than cars, but you wouldn't spend that much money on a car without having a good mechanic certify it as roadworthy, and be able to drive it to see how it goes. I have a compliment for you as well. The fact that you look at horses with an eye toward train-ability, temperament, age, and soundness is absolutely lovely. I've known people who are entirely wrapped up in breeds, and pedigrees seem to be all that matters to them. Not that owning a pedigreed horse is wrong, but in my own personal opinion, I don't care what breed an animal happens to be---I care about their personalities and their souls. I care about their health and their happiness. Good confirmation, gait, and strength aren't the sole domain of pedigrees. Beauty is in the eye of the horse lover.

I’m gonna come out and say it: Diego was not worth $20,000 at auction. A strong part of a horse’s price is determined by the verifiable information you have on them- being registered, who owned them, what training they had, age, soundness checks, medical history. Each piece of information has its own separate value, and that goes into the value of the horse. When a horse is missing the bulk of that information, such as in an auction environment, they lose value. It’s not because they’re not good horses, it’s because information is money. If you’d pay $20k for Diego in a private sale, it’s because you’re also paying for the opportunity to ask for all kinds of papers and checks, and the ability to test-drive. Without that information, you’re just paying for what you can eyeball off the horse. He may have gone for $19.5k in the ring, but I think whoever bought him was overpaying for flash. Some people have a lot of money to gamble, eh? I also wasn’t too happy with his movement either. My gut says something was off. Might have been minor, might have been fixable, who knows- but it just didn’t sit right with me.
@MaMaGTUrbo

Agreed 👍….Diego was overpriced…something off in his heel strike which may be an easy fix (trimming, exercising). But for that kind of money…
@raraavis7782
@raraavis7782 8 ай бұрын
Totally agree. 20.000 is a lot for a pet/pleasure horse with basic training. And you just can't know, if a horse is suitable for more than occasional 'light riding', if you don't have all that additional information. Worst case, you have to decide between investing a lot more even in vet costs or basically write off your 20.000, if the horse has issues.

Me too. That black Arab had had the underneath behind the tail cut, that is why, he and other pure bred Arabs hold their tails so high, especially when you put a lightweight stable rug on, you can see the bump lifting the rug or blanket up, that is NOT Natural for any horse to do etc etc. I took noticed that black Beauty, stunning Show horse etc etc . I also, liked the Palomino tied up inside towards the end of the Video, I love Palies as trained and showed my girl Easter Sunrise, many years ago with some success, due to her putting up with some of my mistakes. But she taught me how to ride, and silly thing's she did when out for a ride, but, turn for home, and she grew a few inches higher, and made a spectacle of herself, as the Arab came out for all to see, pure white long Tail held high, snorting like a Stallion, and high action with her knees, but, never dangerous, she just looked dangerous to non Horsey eyes, but very beautiful also. I hope that we horse lover,s don't have to watch an Auction that accepts Kill pen horse's, also not kill horses but older horses, that the meat guys have their eyes on whether rideable or not, they buy all the cheap little ponies and Donkeys with or without foals. They don't go to any Slaughter Barns in your Country but are put into filthy Cattle Trucks, no hay,water or bedding,Stallions are driven up the ramps mixing with mares and foals, and when the last animal is driven into the all ready too full Truck the door is slammed shut in them all, and they face a terrible journey fior days , to Countries like Japan, North Chorea etc etc. To terrible agonising deaths, many die on the Journey, mostly all the Foals and smaller Ponies. I wish God would not allow this to happen, not just for animals, but, what went on in Germany in both Wars. Somebody who ran a Riding Stable where I was head Riding Instructor , told me "Phyllis, You should Never work at any Riding Schools as You Love Horses too much! How can anyone not love horses, or dogs, cats, birds, Koi Carp etc etc. ?.❤❤❤❤

My Dad bought me a palomino and he was sweet and probably less expensive but I still always wanted an all black horse. His name was Trigger and he was sweet and I was not the best horse rider but he let me do what I wanted, I could ride him bareback and with a rope tied around his muzzle instead of a bridle, so he was perfect for me.we had him until he passed at age 28.

I was lucky when we had our 10 horses They came from two very wonderful sources. There were no issues with health or temperament. Our horses were safe. I was used to that environment as a standard and it was only when I got out into the world that I became aware of what I consider lower ones. Being picky has many benefits, not the least of which are safety concerns which, to me are paramount, not only for oneself, but for anyone else who rides one's horses. Your horses are happy; that can only have good outcomes on a number of levels. Your pristine commitment can only benefit these animals. I would not let anyone talk you out of that uniqueness because you are not surrounded by others that are like you. You may never be. But you can always count on yourself in this regard. I think you are going to find the right horse for Kyle, etc. It's cute how they like him. Horses are a never ending source of pleasure. Thank you for sharing. ❤

I really dislike straight hocks on a horse and the fact that there were signs of potential DSLD. It's a pity that the other paint had anciety issues, he was pretty nice but also would definately need some work on using his neck. Some really nice horses - loved the buckskin! You've got some great self control!!!😁

It was kinda interesting because I do remember when she was viewing him in the stall, and one of the pluses about him was how straight and square he stood. Yet, when he got to moving, that benefit all rather fell apart. So that was a good lesson to not go by the way they look when standing, that how they freely and soundly they move is much more important than great confirmation in a stall . . .

Yeah! Another trip with Shae and Kyle to a horse auction! I love how much I learn from you at these auctions while you are looking the horses over and inspecting them. I'm also enjoying Kyle with his reserved nature that "almost" hides his fun personality. I laughed out loud when he commented that he wasn't sure he could get up on the larger, six year old Clydesdale/Gypsy Fantasy horse without ripping his pants! LOL!! You two make such a cute couple! I really respect you for your dedication to finding the right horse for your particular horse farm program and base your decisions completely on that. Your also use both your heart AND your incredibly vast knowledge together, along with gathering any additional information available from owners or others who are familiar with the horses. Maybe you should include classes with your knowledge about how to purchase horses along with your riding programs! One last thing, I must say that your Ridin’ Rosy lipstick looks amazing with your new carmine rose colored Little Donkey Andy women's puffer vest! See you next time!

Where can I get a free horse off the track?
@kimb4698
@kimb4698 8 ай бұрын
@@kellylawrence9438 I should not have said plenty as I really meant “free” in jest. I and 3 friends have “free” OTTBs by different circumstances. I happen to love Thoroughbreds so there’s that…when I thought i wanted a horse of my own, the Universe conspired and found one for me. He is 27 and going strong. Having people I know in the racing industry at times will lead to an OTTB needing rehoming. There are rescues as well that are affordable. As Shae has stated, there are costs involved in keeping a horse. So they aren’t really “free.” ☺️ I love how she sets out to find a horse. I would pay $5-10k at auction for what she has shared in her vision. 🐎

I can't say I'd pay over $1500 for an unregistered horse at an auction. Can't ride them beforehand, no PPE... And to pay more than $5k for something that didn't come with papers, traceable ancestry and a soundness guarantee, let alone $20k? Too big a risk, IMO

so many pretty horses; glad to see that the horses could eat and drink at the auction. must help with the stress for them. it's a first to hear the term "no kill auction" - does it mean at other auctions the unsold horses may get channelled to feedlots? it sounds difficult to have to judge these horses just seeing them stationary or ridden by others. I'm sure your experience and instincts guide you well.

I know I've said it before but I really, really respect your care when horse shopping. It's not something to do without careful thought and consideration both for the horse's sake and your own, and I love that you consistently remind people of that. Without getting to sit or vet check the animals it's hard to know what kind of responsibility buying that horse would entail. That said, so many tempting cuties at this sale! Definitely one of the nicer auctions you've shown us, many happy munching horses waiting their sale time. Best of luck at the next auction!

I agreed with you watching Diego move out…without a Vet Exam & PPE I would not have purchased him. Hopefully he went to a great home and is truly sound. Would love to follow his story..He’s a Dream! The Paint you asked our opinion on….For me I would have purchased him up to $10K at auction with hopes I could work on his confidence but I think the $6K limit you put on him, especially for you do was a lot more reasonable. Good Call!

Ahhh you are as enchanted as I am with the Gypsy Tanner ! ❤ Anything crossed with one, does it for me. I grew up riding, with a Clydesdale cross. A Clydesdale/Gypsy Tanner cross?! Ahhh, YES PLEASE! I appreciate that you keep your desires in check and only get horses that are sound and solod. Excellent! You will find your next baby! I have started attending auctions, no hurry, being like you, just looking and who knows, one day, may find my horse. Thanks for the great education and taking us along! ❤

Yeah, he's a $10k horse. Very nice, some cross discipline, but I'd also like a ppe and chance to ride him. I like seeing Kyle get his hands on the horses too ❤ I'd give $7500 for #95, that's a pretty nice horse. It will do better bitless 😊 And I'd bet he would work cattle well.

Hello! I only found you a few months ago, but i love your attitude, training style, and style of videos. It does get somewhat uncomfortable when you use a marginalized community has asked us not to use, especially when there are other names they can be used. It'd be awesome growth to see you bring in the other names, even though the name (that some consider a slur) is the most common name. But I love the rest of the content, and your lipstick is always on point 💕
