One, because i would love to see how absolutely happy Rodney would be seeing this kid from far away follow in his footsteps and keeping Freestyle alive and well, and TWO: because this kid deserves to be in the spotlight and acknowledged by the legends to help him build his empire. Japan has been SMASHING it in recent years, but skateboarding is still seen as a thing for delinquents. Skateparks and places to practice are rare on the ground, even after they Tokyo Olympics and Japanese skaters ranking highly/winning. Spread the word and hopefully we will see more places for kids to hang here.

@@Jay-Ram76 I was a early 90s skater too. But heelflips? Never got the hang of them. I don't think I even landed one. Maybe one or two but I can't remember if I did, which probably means I didn't. Do you have to be as quick with your heel as you do with your toes and front of your foot when you kickflip? Every time I've gone for a heelflip, I can't slide my heel up the deck to get enough air, for a start and then just can't get the power or technique right to flip... I can still 180, pop shove it, 180 fakie kickflip, fakie nollie pop shove it. I find fakie 180 kickflips easier than 180 kickflips. Maybe they are easier but they feel so nice to land because you're facing backwards and I always feel badass after landing a fakie anything This kid has legitimately got me back into skating after a 20+ year break. He is phenomenal! I've always loved old skool tricks like little shove it's and switches. He's in another league tho. I'm definitely gonna be practicing those primo and coconut manuals or whatever they are called. The look so cool. His flips are another level too. Bouncing the board off the ground after doing a flip? Whaaaaaat? 😅

@@PWEIcom You know how you ollie when you pop the tail while in a jump slide your front foot up, same with kick flip, pop the tail but slide your front foot back with a slight angle 45 degree sorta slide. Heel flip is tricky, pop the tail and during the pop upwards you slide your front foot forward in a 45 degree angle. You don’t really use your heel to flip it. It’s more like an ollie but your front foot slide forward like a slight kick forward. I want to use a soccer kick analogy but it might not make sense. With your kicking foot your know how to make the ball spin right to left and left to right using the inside of your foot and outside of your foot, it’s the same way for kick flips and heel flip but your using your weak foot to make it spin. I skate regular I push off my right and have my right foot on the tail, I kick the soccer ball with my right foot. Just remember when you pop the tail and start to slide your foot upwards , slide in the direction you want it to flip. Remember to kick forward or back during the pop upwards, don’t try flip at the apex of the jump. I thought it would be easy to explain, I thought wrong. Lol I pulled a groin trying a kick flip a few months ago to see if I still have it. Lol I’m out of shape and haven’t been doing anything physical for years. I’m 5’ 10 165lbs = 74kg. I hope it helped a tiny tiny bit for you. Good luck. P.S. if you can ollie you should be able to do all the rest, it’s how you use your foot to direct the skateboard.

Hallo Jonny. Danke. Hello Jonny. That is an incredible fact. But the Japanese are a very remarkable people. This culture, old combined with young. This respect for each other, whether young or old. And this discipline. This is why there are so many exceptional talents. Freestyle skateboarding has become more and more popular in recent years, it is becoming better known, more popular and more people are interested in it. Freestyle skateboarding was hushed up and ridiculed for 20 years from the 90s. Especially the biggest freestyle talents of the 80s, who now run the biggest skateboard companies in the USA, didn't give a shit about freestyle. Every now and then one of the great freestyle talents of the 80s stops by a freestyle contest in Canada and sees what's going on. Great, freestyle can't continue to develop like this. Freestyle has only developed further through people like Kevin Harris, Kilian Martin and Andy Anderson. Jonny Giger is also showing more and more freestyle. Watch this video online for 1 day 700,000 views, something is going on, right? For comparison, in Japan, the great talents in freestyle skating in the 80s and 90s always promoted freestyle and supported the next generation. This is now the result. There are hundreds of freestyle skateboarders in Japan and many of them are incredibly good, with a level and safety on the board that cannot be compared in the USA or Europe. I will say it again. This balance, this discipline, this mutual respect, whether young or old, is unique in Japan. We Europeans and Americans should learn from this. And not just in skateboarding. Then things would move forward again. We have the Freestyle World Championships in Germany, Brandenburg in 2024. Christian Heise, with his small company, has been doing a lot for freestyle skateboarding for several years. Organizes the greatest freestyle contest of all time. The big boys should take an example from this. Jonny Giger, always very nice videos. Thanks.

I think the combination of being very light in weight, but already have relatively strong muscles (plus the obvious experience and talent), help in doing some tricks that are by laws of physics more difficult for heavier adults than for kids. Amazing to watch such board control. 🙌

The new board looks amazing! I would definitely buy it if I didn't exclusively skate twin setups...

Japanese work ethic is just superior. He doesn't just call it day after landing it, he perfects it by doing it over and over 10x until he's satisfied. You'll never see kids in America apply themselves to anything like young man; they'll just smoke up and act like delinquents.

That 10th trick is insane, it really should be impossible but he makes it look so easy.

At 43 I’m not jumping 10 or 20 ft gaps. Nor is there reason to. But these videos you show are great to learn and achieve or at best try

Makes me want a small deck size now , trying to flick tricks on a 8.25 I find isn't that easy compared to a 7.75 . Those primo slide impossibles was nuts .

I wanted to write something about how Yuzuki pushed further what I thought is unpushable but then I saw that INCREDIBLY AWESOME board graphic! 😍 Dude. The Iron Giant was so freaking cool, I gotta rewatch that. Hello? Santa? About my letter - forget that. I want something else lol

Pretty sure 99% of the tricks I just watched, I’d just say “give me the letter” 😂 I can’t even fathom how half these tricks work and I’m a pretty decent skater.
