Freight Trains and XC diversions at Westbury Station

A days workings at Westbury Station, Tuesday 10th August 2021 between 11am and 6:30pm.
Since the takeover of movements from DB to Freightliner the overwhemling majority of return stone workings to the quarries now avoid the station in the late afternoon/evening.

We got a voyager down here because of some work (presumably) on the Bristol to Taunton line

someone who knows how to use a tripod and zoom properly, plus takes plenty of cuttaways and establishing shots.... with crisp pictures and good sound on a very busy day. A most welcome change and will be continuing to watch with interest. So good to see the 166s held together with gaffer tape :-) and the 59s still going strong. Would love to see some of the workings in the 2 Mendip quarries but expect they don't have many vantage places.

Thanks Malcolm, I remember listening to the legendary Ivo Peters old Somerset and Dorset video, he “said the train is doing the moving and your not’, so always invested in a good tripod and head. The picture is also stabilised in Davinci Resolve ( you can get this for). Think there is a road at the entrance to Whatley Quarry with some video on KZfaq but Merehead is not very accessible.

Curious when that GBRf Class 66 took off from Patney Sdg, possibly with those hoppers that had been there for many months. Trying to nail down when they were moved.
