This is one of my favorites, I can't even remember too many times it flipped. I feel like it should've been added into the Alaska map, as a task reward. With the upgrades being close by, it would've been more popular that way.

I used this truck almost exclusively in Alaska. It was literally the perfect vehicle for almost any situation in those maps, it's got speed on the highways, great pulling power for heavy loads in steep icy conditions, and is surprisingly maneuverable in tight spaces. Sadly, I've found it less useful in maps after Alaska since it doesn't seem to handle deep mud as well as some other vehicles do, particularly the Russian monsters, and that limits it's uses in Taymyr and subsequent maps. I bet it will do very well in the phase 8 maps though, since those seem like they're less terrain heavy.

The lighter weight of the 114SD has actually been a boon to me on a few occasions in Kola Peninsula, allowing me to traverse the cracking ice without falling through.

This is my standard "jack of all trades" truck. A crane/bed combo and it's my go-to for smaller, quick jobs, or hitting multiple contracts in a row with the great fuel life.

Wow! For a minute there I didn’t think there were going to be any upsides😂. I drive a Freightliner Cascadia on a daily basis so I am a little bias but I love this little freight-shaker. As one of those performance spurts I was able to haul that heavy construction trailer in Black River to the drilling site with no issues. Despite all of those down sides that you have mentioned I think the Freightliner 114SD is like a three legged, one eyed junkyard dog. IT JUST KEEPS GOING! Awesome review, I was looking forward to this one. 🤘😬🤘

I really enjoy both of these trucks, but then again I really enjoy working with the perceived "underdog". It's all about what you can make work, and you can make damn sure they are gonna work for me!

I drove one of these set up as an altec bucket truck doing line clearance tree work for around 4 years and it is amazing how far these things can truly take you. Mine was the single rear axle version and was in really rough shape but it went everywhere we asked it. It had a rear locker but not 4 wheel drive and it still did really good as long as you were careful picking your lines.

I love the 114SD, one of my favorite trucks. I use it with the self-loading crane and the sideboard bed for short hauls or I use it as a fuel truck. Its versatility is damn near unmatched.

As someone who only just recently started playing snowrunner, your truck guide videos have been super helpful. Also, something I've realized that I thought I'd share is that mudtires aren't really worth using on some trucks. If the only mudtire option you have is the MHS I (such as on the paystar), it's actually worse overall compared to the UOD II/OHD I offroad tires, because they're only 0.1 worse in mud traction, but the dirt traction goes from 2 to 3, which is noticeable.

I've used this truck for almost every task and contract in Alaska, it basically lives there now.

So this truck to me handles really well the power is a little under but it has killer grip and if you play with the gearing and pump the gas you can get alot out of it and it’s super fun then when you get in a better truck you have so much more experience it makes you play different kinda like a training truck I wrote this before I finished the video 😂😬

I remember this truck I like it a lot. Though I think it's overshadowed by the White Western Star because in my opinion that truck can do anything the Freightliner can do. I still like it a lot eventough I'm more into the old classic rigs this thing is a decent choice, but it ultimately falls down due to the high level requirement to unlock like the new Derry. By that time you have so many better options in your fleet this thing looks like an absolute joke compared to them. The only unique thing is the range/fuel consumption thats excellent but then theres the AZOV 64131 which is even better than this truck. Its just nothing special or doesn't have a unique selling point. Still great review 👍

Every time iv started again iv always owned this truck it's never really does wrong but never feels that strong either it's a weird truck that's a good long hauler great video again we need an update for trucks like this forgotten and left behind

Crazy timing as I mentioned you do a review on this bad boy on your last video, and here it is a few days later. All the 114SD needs is the Westline V6 2350T that the WWS has, it's other flaws are it's character but that wheel locking is a issue. I'm off to watch your Step 310E review, just fell in love with it hauling semitrailers in Amur. That truck has secret super powers. Strap in the LAZ 6 TA240 and a low saddle, good times.

just grabbed this truck cleaning up contracts on michigan in hard mode. really love the fuel efficiency and slow and steady nature. my only complaint is its lack of guts at times. it doesn't feel like it like to stay in high gear on roads, strangely enough

Just got the Freightliner 114SD today and ran several jobs with it, its actualy pretty stable with the stock suspension and tires going over most obstacles, it does get a little tippy with the raised suspension, but what I really don't get is where i´m supposed to use a Truck you only get the AWS and Raised upgrades on the last Alaska map, that has NO mud tyres at all for Amur and only has Chained UADs. if this truck had Chained UODs it would be a amazing american truck for Kovd map.

Using this truck now for the log missions in Black Lake that were added post launch and I have to say, this truck is great for hauling long logs. I actually find it a very stable truck with the long log attachments, both with cargo and empty. Maybe it’s more tippy with the on-frame attachments only? I don’t know if this is the same with all trucks or not, but it feels I get a crapload of illumination at night from all the extra fog lights and stuff I added to it. :) And it’s steering angle seems to be great as well.

I hope this thing and a few other trucks, get some more engine options in the future

I've re-started the game like hundred times with the goal in mind to allocate resources so that I can buy 114SD as early as possible. But I've never reached lv20 cos I get bored playing sooner. Usually it happens like this: trying to boost my level I do some missions in Alaska, than I realize I did too much so that there's barely anything left for me to do after finishing Michigan, I get disappointed and I quit playing. The problem with this truck is that it's available too late. It's a good, fuel efficient vehicle that somewhat lacks the toughness of the ANK or the russian trucks. It's best for Michigan and Alaska where roads are factual, not nominal. In hard mode, which is the only right way to play the game, it's a good Fleetstar replacement. But it's availavble so late in the game, you'd probably have cleared the first map of Alaska by that time. At this time you don't wanna waste resources on a new truck cos soon you'll be in Taimyr🤮 and you'll have to use something more... substantial? Like Tayga or, even better, Voron AE. Despite all these I'm looking forward to try this truck, I like it a lot as a concept: small fuel efficient engine (I don't need power), huge tank and a reasonably high front bumper unlike some mother-F-ers (I'm looking at you, Royal). And differential locks, ofc.

Idk anything about tyres but i notice that stage 2 tyre threads always look better/grippier than stage 3. Are they better than stage 3 or similar ?

Some people really love this truck. For me it's a truck I rarely use, heck I take out the Ford CLT9000 more then this truck. lol It does get a lot of praise for having the triple combo of crane + flatbed + trailer. But a truck having that ability has just never mattered to me. I have my two dedicated crane trucks, the Force with crane + Sideboard (which can also use a trailer) and the Bandit with crane + saddle low. I guess you could argue 3 if you count the Actaeon as crane + 1 cargo slot. But I was accounting for full size trucks, not really for mini light duty trucks. So for full size trucks I have the Force and Bandit and that's it, I never needed anything else and I rather run most trucks without a crane to help improve the stability. It should be noted that I play on normal mode though where a lot of cargo can be auto-loaded and you only need cranes in the first place for certain tasks. So the biggest feature this truck is known for, it's triple combo ability. That feature just does not matter to me at all. And without it's triple combo it then comes off as just kinda a subpar-average American truck. Funny thing is I remember being pretty hype for hard mode when Saber annoyed it as I did play hard mode quite a lot back on the old MudRunner. When it came out though and I seen that most of the changes just revolved around money (fuel cost money, repair cost money, recovery cost money, cargo (unless manually loaded) cost money, etc) then it just killed my hype it. I hoped hard mode would add a new challenge to the game in some way, but the one thing I didn't want it to be which it turned out being was just a money mode. I remember SnowRunner being quite a grind when I first picked it up. Besides the logging missions added it later, Michigan and Alaska otherwise pays chump change in missions. And being I'm a bit of a collector in games, I don't like selling trucks to buy other trucks unless I get a duplicate of a vehicle I already own. You don't start making even decent money until you get to Taymir and even then some vehicles took a while to save up for. So to restart the game on hard mode just to have relative the exact same gaming experience just with a even slower grind just to get back everything I already have in normal mode. I was like yeah, hell with that. I don't what I specifically wanted. Maybe something like the mud being even softer in places. Maybe something like upgrades being locked behind higher levels. Hell why not region restrictions, you can only use American vehicles in America, that sort of thing. I knew they wasn't going to redesign the maps for hard mode, but I feel like there is things hard mode still could of done to change the game and make it physically harder then normal mode. That's what I wanted. But when it came out as more or less just a money manager mode, it completely killed hard mode for me instantly. I had absolutely no desire to start a second game save just for that. And hey I've heard people say they love hard mode and more power to them. If people get enjoyment out of it, go for it. But for me, it just wasn't there and just wasn't wanted it to be. Anyway, I guess the point is being as I do still just play normal mode as I explained above. That makes the Freightliners triple combo ability even all the more of a useless to feature to me. Perhaps in hard mode that ability is more useful with the expense of bringing fuel bringing multiple trucks to a job site or the expense of cargo to auto load. Maybe cranes and as such the Freight triple combo is more viable in hard mode. But for me in normal mode, I just don't care about the truck having that ability.

Good truck if you don't want to wait for the AWD of the GMC MH9500 (they perform very similarly). Crane+bed+trailer combo trucks are rare anyway, so I think it's worth buying for just this alone.

This truck is really great jack-of-all-trades, that would be best utilized in early game. And i think that´s it´s biggest downside. When you finally unlock it, you will already have several great trucks that arent as versatile, but are better in their specific fields, so you dont really need universal truck anymore.

It's truly a forgotten one. While being one of the few OG trucks that support bed+crane+trailer combo (which I love to have, especially in hardcore), it does for whatever reason ignore that Westline V6 2380 engine, that both middle heavy-duty trucks have. Looking like a modern truck, it is somehow stuck with a decades-old 6-cylinder setup without the top one. IMO, it needs to have access to that GB V8 engine series that all the modern US medium trucks have. Until the devs add a special engine for it, it will forever be ignored. Or... mods are our salvation.

Maybe the Step 310-E next? I feel as that truck doesn't get a lot of attention.

Based on stats I'd say 114SD is the second best american truck in Offroad class and since it's the best class overall it's the third best vehicle after compromised but still extremely awesome ANK🥇 and upgraded with AWD Tween Steer🥈 Since you have plenty of free trucks for versatility, the main purpose of the offroad truck is being a recovery rig and doing toughest offroad deliveries. Irreplaceable bed of the ANK isn't really a disadvantage, especially considering that standard sideboard bed is ugly and flat bed is not as practical. That's why I think it's the Mk38 the best truck in the game. At least among american ones. 114SD could be the best american truck if it was free. Cos fuel efficiency is huge. Not only in gard mode, range is always a good thing. When you always recover to the garage you still waste a lot of time driving to the next objective. Fleetstar is incredibly efficient and can drive from a garage in Smithville Dam to rescue a stuck scout with a crane and back completing a couple tasks on the way, and imagine Fleetstar having extra 60 liters. That's insane! The only real drawback of 114SD is engine sound, wich I think Paystar 5070 is the best at.

I know before you mentioned to me (in a live stream) that the White Western Star 4964 is a great American truck for all round trucking. Would you say the White Western Star can hold up on later maps while still using the high saddle, low saddle, & log carrier front? Right now I’m currently using all the Pacific trucks for everything; swapping between the three.

Probably the most severe case of an okay truck that's unlocked far too late in the game. It fills practically the same role as the White WS or even just the Fleetstar, but by the time you unlock this truck you not only have far better trucks to pick from, but also far greater challenges to face. In fact most of the truck unlocks are not worth waiting for. Yar 87 is good, CT680 is reasonably good, Voron Grad is slightly better than the other Vorons, but the 114SD is just a modern looking White WS or Fleetstar, the other Freightliner and Azov 5 suffer from a comically small fuel tank, the Kolob is practically identical to the other Kolob besides slightly less overhang but less ground clearance in the first place, the Derry isn't even the best American heavy, let alone the best heavy overall, and the Azov 7 plows the path with its bumper more often than not.

My 3 main problems with 114SD is it's classification, way too high rank lock, and it's lack of power compared to IRL.
