Engine lights! What now?
In a Freightliner with a Detroit engine, there are different stages of warning lights/engine codes. So we want to show you how to respond to these different warnings. This information applies to the previous Cascadia as well as the NextGen Cascadia with Detroit engines. Here are the sections in this video:

The clearing of the lights just turns lights out it doesn't solve problem

Thank you we had the Christmas lights on and the truck was running bad and no faster then 20 miles hr and up pulling in the center lane and do the on of 3 times Thank you so much And have a safe Happy new year 🎆

I did and it never went off so I am guessing it has to do with the def system because I put good def and the code went off but the check engine did not go off

The yellow lamp designates that your DD13 \ 15 truck engine is running !

Hi. I have a freightliner m2 106 box truck. The amber light comes on all the time but after it warms up I can usually turn it off and back on. It usually goes away. What do you think?

I'm just gonna close my eyes, point, and shoot. But it could be nothing. However, if it doesn't like what it sees in those first couple minutes of running I am going to guess it is a temp sensor and there are many of those. Intake temp sensor, output temp sensor, aftertreatment temp sensors, etc.

@@asphalttarmasters6735 after I turn it off and on again after it runs for a bit then it's all ok. No fault codes at all.

@@geoffnavolt1970 What is most important is what it’s doing the majority of the time so if it only has the engine light on for a very short time then you are fine. Although it could mean that something is going out and the light eventually won’t go away. The light coming on means it’s registered a code so if you get a chance to plug into it they would be able to see what it’s throwing and let you know if that was a problem or not

@@geoffnavolt1970 It is not uncommon for an engine light to hang around for the first 30 seconds of running but they usually go out by themselves without having to restart the truck. I mean based on what engine lights mean, they detect that something is not quite right. They are getting a signal that is out of the normal range. So it sounds like a sensor isn't liking something and I would agree it sounds air temp related.

Turn the truck on and let it run for 60 seconds. Turn the key off and sit for 60 seconds. Repeat that 3 times.

Well like I mentioned in the video, it can be a number of things. To find out the exact code you need to check your detroit hq portal or take it to a shop or have the computer to pull codes. But you can try the things I showed in this video to see if it will go away.

Well if those lights have come on then it will give you a code in the dash, what code is it giving you? Can you pull up a name or is it giving you a SPN or FMI number?

It’s “ecu 128 pid 235 fail 00”

@@alexisambriz9248 I don't have software to look up those codes, but you can search them online to see if anyone has posted that code. Some things I am seeing suggest a park brake switch but that would not shut you down.
