Still have one,1978 ,3406A CAT,air ride,15 speed, owned it for 40 years.

I still have a 1980 with a 3406B 13spd... hauled hay and cattle in Co. and Wyo. It was a powerful puller but rough ridin' sumbitch... I love it...

First actual 'big truck' I ever drove was a '79 FLC120 with a custom built and hugely turned-up 12V71TTA Detroit. Only made 2 Toronto to LA round trips it it hauling produce, but that got me hooked. That was in the late 1980's. Later on, circa 1992 when I finally bought my own truck, I got a super deal from an O/O who was retiring due to medical issues on his used but like new '87 FLC120 with a 425hp 3406B Cat turned up to 500hp at the ground, a 15 spd.RR tranny , 250 inch wheelbase and a big highrise custom MicMak bunk. Absolutely the best running and best looking truck I ever had!

I had my truck stolen in China town back in 1986. It turned out that The Pork Chop Express (as was my handle) was taken by some shady characters who were deep into violence and eastern mysticicism and I had big trouble getting it back. I told the story to a Hollywood type one time in a bar and they made it into Big Trouble in Little China.

Best looking of the large car trucks. Shame the flc isn't around anymore.

If another dealership begins to bring back these kinds of models again. I will be there in a flash.

I was an owner operator during the late ‘70s to the mid ‘90s. My first Freightliner was a 9664 slant back cab with a 3406 DITA and 13 spd hauling freight west of the Mississippi I then built a new 260 WB 1985 12064 FLC with a stand up 60” sleeper. Pulled the sleeper upon delivery. The chassis received a CAT 3412 DITTA with a retarder and Jake’s, 18 spd and Eaton DT 480P diffs. On Freightliner Airride suspending an aluminum frame. The chassis was then fitted with Miller logging equipment, Lodex electronic scales with quick-change bunks and a quick-change sliding 5th wheel. It had a full complement of gauges, CC, PWs, power and heated mirrors, Farr Air Cleaners, The best truck I ever spec’s and owned. Last I knew of her whereabouts she was in N CA but that was a very long time ago. I’d love to find her if she hadn’t been scrapped. Her name was “Soilent Green”. A play on words from the movie Soylent Green. She was two tone green and built with pieces parts.

To be honest, since the one from "Big Trouble in Little China" appeared, I was a little surprised to not see the liquid nitrogen truck from Terminator 2.

I have a 82 hopefully one day i will bring it back to life.

My dad had a ford l9000 and my uncle drove the 120flc. It was purple striped and silver. It had a 15sp and a cat engine. The ford had a cummins and 18sp. Both great trucks that lived hard lives on B.C roads. Hailing china top super B's of drywall to whistler, cement suber b's throughout the Okanogan and at last as senior's, they hauled overweight containers around the scales with super chassis from Tacoma to vancouver. The freightliner had a 430hp cat and the ford a 400 hp cummins tuned up to 430hp.
