Fremantle Prison Tour

3 жыл бұрынHighlights of a tour of the World Heritage site, the Fremantle Prison. Built by convicts in the 1850’s it held convicts and prisoners for. 136 years before being decommissioned as a maximum security goal in 1991. On my visit I has an amazing tour guide that explained what life inside the prison was like for prisoners. The guide was so professional and added so much insight into the Fremantle Prison.

Wow, the opening shot of those endless blue sky's had me hooked from the start of this one. Poignant music, we did this tour about 8 years ago. Very informative, it looks as though they have cleaned the outside of the building since then. I don't recall some of the art work either if I remember correctly I only remember the artwork in one of the cells. It was certainly a hard life being an inmate! Certainly very basic amenities, no frills. But then they were in there for punishment not on holiday! As always your videos never disappoint, always beautifully shot. Here in the UK we have blue skies and some beautiful sunshine, unfortunately we are sadly lacking any heat! You still need to wrap up warm, we are still struggling to get daytime temperatures into double figures! Still it's nice to see the sunshine makes everything look so different, and people feel more cheerful. Take care, stay safe❤️

Wow this is great Grant. I've done this tour a few times over the years and you've covered it great. Anyone never been there I'd highly recommend they go and check it out. Also in summer months they hold outdoor concerts in the exercise yard. Lol.

Hey Dex, thank you. Concerts in the yard.. Yes they were setting up for a concert the day I visited.. and they also have the movies there too.. talk about creepy.. I can just imagine the atmosphere in there if a night time... I cant believe they were still using those toilet buckets.. OMG!!! 🤪

It was a great your Dianne. The tour guide so looked the part.. he was amazing and shared so many great stories and shared the history of the prison.. highly recommend it.

Great tour Grant. looks like you got exclusive access Occasionally work right next to the prison. Never been past the big gate. The noose was pretty confronting

Thank you Firdyk.. omg the noose and the gallows room was very eerie.. I can’t quite describe the feeling you had when walking into the room... the conditions in the prison were all rather confronting.. The tour guide tells some amazing stories as you walk though..

OMG… I haven’t done a night tour.. yes.. agree it would be awesome.. however I think it would also be rather creepy.. the prison is meant to be haunted as well..

@@GrantMenner I remember on the tour we did they told us all about the supposed ghost that could be seen from a particular window somewhere in the prison. I think her name was Mary? Not sure whether I believe, but it was certainly fun!

It was pretty amazing and the tour guide told us lots of stories and history about the prison.

@@CoolGamerIsChilling it was very cool Ninja.. I look forward to going back sometime for one of the night time tours.. now that will be creepy! It’s incredible to think that his jail was still being used in the 1990’s… the stories and history of all those years.. if only the walls could talk.. (actually its supposed to be haunted so I guess the walls do talk.. haha..)

They spoke of the suicide nets installed in the prison on the tour.. very harsh conditions inside. And to think it only closed in the 1990’s..
