France loves burgers!
What if I told you the world's best hamburger can be found in Tours, Loire Valley?
Join me as I chat with Chef Benoît Sanchez (aka "le Tatoué Toqué") in his restaurant located in Tours' historical center a few hundred yards away from renowned Place Plumereau.
Benoît is a true entrepreneur, a former expat and an experienced chef and business owner. He has many stories to tell and exciting projets to lead in the next few months.
And yes, he and the other members of the "French Burger Team" did place #1 at the World's Food Championships in Dallas, Tx. in 2023 ("Burger" category.)

Here's a clever business name: Une toque = a chef's hat. Toqué (adjective, slang) = to be a little crazy :-)

I loved this interview of such an interesting guy, with a very interesting story. I’m so glad I was reminded of this interview, because after days of rain and cold in CA, I spent as much time in the garden as possible.

Excellent interview. His French team winning the best burger in the world reminds me of the movie "Bottle Shock" that told the story of California wines winning the best wines award in a blind taste test against French wines and the judges were all French! Thanks for posting this story.

Fun and interesting interview with a French chef who competed in a burger championship in Texas as well as running a fabulous restaurant in Tours! I loved how you filmed the interiors of the restaurant while you talked together. It's a beautiful place! Thanks again for the English subtitles. 😊

Loved this interview. He is so lively and I would love to taste his burgers next time I come to Tours. I did not know about him last year. BTW: My grandson in Paris loves burgers. He is 5! Véro, it was a very interesting interview !!

This was so interesting and put a smile on my face many times while watching! The history of the building‽ I look forward to visiting Tours and trying 2-3 of his burgers! I’m wondering if we might be able to tie in a visit over the Street Weekend when we head north to Ireland for a visit.

Véro, you never cease to amaze. Once again a fabulous interview. I am familiar with the chef because of the completion and the Tours connection....because of you. I am excited about the September festival and would love to be there, but that will not be the case this year. Indiana is close to my home state, so maybe a visit to the next burger competition with be possible. I could be your roving reporter!
