The verb " to be" just in the present form is "Io sono/I am" " tu sei/ you are" "lui, lei, il e'/ he/she /it is" , "noi siamo"/We are "voi siete/you are" "essi sono/they are"...and it goes on for many other conjugations lol also the verb TO GO, is Io vado (I go ) but becomes noi andiamo (we go) for the first plural pronoun 😂

To anyone who think this is crazy: *THIS IS THE SHORT VERSION* The full conjugaison of a verb in French is probably 10 times longer. Oh, and sometimes the verb completely changes too! Say, the conjugaison of the verb "Aller" (to go) swaps between "aller, allons", to "vais, vas, vont", to "irai, ira" based on the tense. For example, for the Future Tense, it's irai/Iras/Ira/Irons/Irez/Iront; Ok, there's nothing remotely linked to "Aller" in there, but at least they're all similar, right? But for the present, it's Vais/Vas/Va/Allons/Allez/Vont. So based on the tense, and the pronoun, the verb looks completely different. If you want to tell one person to go somewhere, it's VA! But if you want to tell multiple people to go, it's ALLEZ! But it's still too simple, so we also add other verbs in front of it! And (of course) that verb also completely changes based on the tense/pronoun; Just a few of the hundreds: "Serions allé" "Est allé" "Fûtes allées" "Étions allés" "soyez allés" "Sois allé" But it's not all; You have any shred of sanity left? Sometimes you use the verb itself before the verb. You can say "Je vais" ("Aller" at the present tense), but if you're talking about the future, you can also say "JE VAIS ALLER", which is like saying "I will go go" (The more I think about it, and the least I understand how in the hell kids can figure this stuff at a young age).

I grew up speaking both French and English. When you learn a language by living in it, you use what is common and are aware of what isn't. In English, this would be similar to people who pretend to use or try to use old English. You kind of understand what it means but you would never use it. English has moved on and dropped all of its old references. French has not. Everything is still on the books, as it were.

this spring I went to Paris. I took French in high school up to French 4, but it had been 20 years, so I bought a grammar book to review. since the info was still in the brain but I need to brush up on it. the book was a complete grammar book, that decided to do ALL of the verb tenses before going on to other types of grammar. around the 13th chapter (still in verb tenses) I realized I didn't remember getting to these tenses. I remembered present past future, imperfect, past imperfect, and one or two others that my brain doesn't want to list at the moment. but at that moment I realized I was trying to review new information, and then looked ahead and it still had like 3 more verb tenses, and decided I wouldn't need these to get around paris for 10 days and skipped ahead to review something other than verb tenses
