Another great video Funky, thanks for the mention about ANZAC Day, mean's a lot, & it was tastefully done too but the same back to you all as well, as you boys were there with us as well! Love that tent btw, & the sound of the rain on the tarp was very relaxing; keep up the great work mate, cheers.

Intersting coffee strainer... One solution to use without a paper filter is to sit the whole strainer in your cup, minus the plastic legs. Coffee & hot water will brew nicely, same principal as the MSR Filter.

I'm a big fan of using 100% beeswax blocks to rub on my boots and kit and then melt with a hair dryer, not ideal but it's easy, I've heard good things about mixing Beeswax and Paraffin wax into a block to use for better waterproofing, lots of methods just gotta experiment for yourself I guess, that's the fun, take care of your feet with good quality socks and boots and they'll take care of you.

Nice one Funky. I have seen some one using an arctic tent and that has a flap in the floor just inside that unzips to put your cooker straight on the ground. Nice tribute for ANZAC Day.

for snow cover you need a hard cover roof. IE wood framing and solid covering. Water weighs 62.4 pounds per cubic foot. So one foot by three feet with a foot of snow on top weighs as much as an average adult male. Or it will weight that much as it goes thru the thaw melt down cycle. A one person pup tent has at least 6 foot by 4 foot on each side of the A frame. Think about that for a little bit. That is the reasoning behind the alpine dwellers building A frame houses with very steep roof lines. Gravity sheds the weight down to the ground.

hi randy, great to hear from you again mate - your right, i was pondering about snowfall last night and it would be more suitable to set up the tent under some shelter from the snow ie under an established pine tree offering natural cover. for long term i would construct a wood hut around and over it as this would guarantee thjat no water creeps in. cheers buddy, good job tidying up that wood pile on the field

www.gq.com/news-politics/newsmakers/201409/the-last-true-hermit Talking about bugging out deserves to have this case mentioned. This man Bugged out when he heard about the Chernobyl melt down and didnt come out of the woods for personal contact with anyone for over 30 years. He didnt hunt, he stole his way to survival. Thousands of house burglaries to collect the food clothing and supplies that he required.

A good tip for used coffee grounds are to let then dry out and you can use them as part of your ash tray. It can helps keep the ash tray clean and helps remove the smoke smell from you car or in your case tent maybe :) As usual cool video..I got to stop watching though as you keep on make me buy stuff I never thought I needed ;)

Another suggestion Darren: How about a cake cooling rack? I know you can get them in different sizes. This will allow air flow around the base of the Trangia whilst keeping it off the base of your tent.

@Pooch1953
@Pooch1953 8 жыл бұрын
I know it has been over a year since you posted this, but wanted to point out something anyway, you may have already realized this by now. On your thermos/vacuum bottle, I have a Stanley bottle with the exact same plug as yours, the thick thread with a cut out on both sides, that is so you do not have to remove the plug completely to pour your hot drink. You unscrew it a couple turns and look under top of plug until you see that cutout in threads. When you see it, stop unscrewing the plug, make sure the cut out is on the side you want to pour from, those cutouts provide a small pouring channel and you can fill your mug without having to balance plug, bottle and cup. Pour and screw tight, never have to remove the plug to pour.

I love your videos and watch them all the time. You should maybe use your other nylon tarp as a cami and fly cover over your tent and that way you will get abit of a porch over your tent. Love all your equipment and wish that I had some. I really love your candle idea with the use of the left over cans. Brilliant. Thanks for all of your info and please keep up the good work.

The comment about the band on the cigar is correct from a British etiquette point of view, after you have smoked the cigar for a few minutes, you should remove the label. The heat should loosen the band to make it easier to remove is also correct,The reason it is good etiquette is because a gentleman should not flaunt his wealth, or his cigars. If you are smoking a particularly good stogie there is no need to flash that, this comes from way back in the uk when we had cigar bars :)
@funkyprepper
@funkyprepper 9 жыл бұрын
i understand, im not big on ego etc but more practical and care free about what i do. if people want to get offended over bands on a cigar i feel they need to get a grip lol. i was told this by a good friend whos known in austria, a true aficionado. i guess we have to agree to disagree :) would be nice to get the cigar lounges back though

Thanks, joe

Its so hard to hear you sometimes especially at the end of this video where your showing off the backpack or burgan. Also when your at your supper table its so echo sounding in the kitchen its hard to make out what your saying. So good mic would help your videos so much..
