A continuing discussion on the culture, history, language and concept of French Louisiana. Discussing origins of family names and ideas of Acadian, Creole, and French ancestry. Ideas presented are based upon my research of French Louisiana history, my genealogy and my personal experiences and beliefs as a native of French Louisiana.

I researched my family history for over a decade, i was completely obsessed . Joseph Beausoleil Broussard is my 8th GGF. He shows up directly in both sides of my family tree. The Broussard and Landry name is very dominant in my tree .Francois Severin Desgraviers Marceau was also a direct GGF but this side came from France

I’m a quarter Cajun. I’m part French, Spanish, German, and some Corsican and Micmac on the Cajun side of the family. My Spanish ancestors all came from the Canary Islands I never met anyone who had Spanish ancestry from Mexico. I’m half Hispanic my moms family is from Mexico and Peru, so I’m part Spanish-Mexican from my mom.

By the way, originally le terme "créole" désigne une personne d'origine européenne qui est née aux Amériques. Par la suite, ce terme s'est attaché au français typique des différentes colonies d'Amérique.

Through genealogy I’ve found out Joseph Broussard is my 7th ggf. Then to his son Claude Eloi to the Granger family then to the Pevotos. Most migrated to southeast Texas and married English descendants.

Very interesting perspective I like it. Hi from Acadie-Bathurst. Yes we're very different but you're still family to me. I'm a little disappointed you didn't ham it up a bit in this video though. LoL . Don't worry I don't act like I am cross either even if I am the cross. La Croix encore ici!

Savoie is/was a common name in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Their heritage usually going back to Canada . Many other French family names in that area.
