I'm confused, so what's the difference between De La Monnaie VS De Monnaie VS La Monnaie Or Just Monnaie.

This was a helpful revision of de, but I'm wondering if you have a video explaining the difference between de and des. For instance "de petites cuillères". It is plural, but the singular de is being used. I've seen some french grammar posts that mentioned that it is because adjectives were used, but it didn't explain why. It doesn't appear to always be the case, and I end up confused and frustrated. Do you already have a video that covers using de vs. des?

Hi there, I'm a French learner and I got the answer for your question. Generally, adjectives come after the noun so in plural form, we use des. e.g J'ai des livres chèrs. However, when the adj precedes the noun, in its plural form, we use de instead. e.g. J'ai de bons vins. Hope this helps.

Hi Virginie, thank you for making this very helpful video. I want to say "we don't have time" -- Do I say "Nous n'avons pas le temps OR Nous n'avons pas de temps"? Merci beaucoup

Choosing the right preposition before a verb is a pain in the arse. I feel quite discouraged.😅😅😍

"To contract or not to contract. That is the question." There are general rules that don't require contractions such as expressions of quantity, negatives, and certain verbs before an infinitive. Why would you not contract the following: les jours de la semaine, les mois de l'année, le sud de la France?
@FrenchTrulyTV6 жыл бұрын
"To contract or not to contract. That is the question." that is funny ;-) Bonne question: only ever contract when using masculine singular (if the noun starts with a consonant) and plural: de + le = du / à + le = au / de + les = des / à + les = aux. Feminine singular or masculine starting with a vowel are not contracted!

My question is why can't you use "de" by itself (no partitive) with the previous ones that I mentioned?
@sovirakourom85206 жыл бұрын
Sharwin Snelson you're right there's a lot of rules and she didn't give us example of plural noun + de + article + noun. But in this case she was explaining us how to say of, of the and from in French by explained us how to use De as preposition + noun correctly. Most importantly in this video we need to pay attention about how to contract and not to contract and she was explained to us already. She wasn't tell us how to use De + verb and De before adjective and another rules in this lesson, perhaps she will make another video for this lesson.

De (like couverte de neige, voiture de Pierre, je vien de Pologne) is the most annoying one to me, as it seems to me it does not follow the similar logic as du, de la etc. It can be used in so many sentences that im confused.

wait...this video is horse shit. you say you are going to talk about De only, yet you didn't even talk about EVERYTHING de does. like frein d'urgence. why is the de there? yeah its a liason to the u in urgence, but why is it that and not frein urgence or urgence frein? why is it jeu video and not jeu de video? why is it jeu de plateau and not jeu plateau? you see, you are forgetting to include important shit in this video.
