180-190 F. Maybe 200, but definitely not 150 - WTF! What the heck are you doing? That’s basically drinking water! Chef Andy, lemme level you up!

I spent 30 mins this afternoon looking up how to make French press coffee and pour over coffee and now know that the temp should be 195-205 degrees. This guy making a video and not even researching properly. lol

I have a french press that I bought from Ikea. Great quality and great reviews for an awesome price. I've used it for several months now. The real benefit with the French Press is as follows: 1. no paper or any filter needed. so you dont need to worry about getting more filters and the environment is happier yada yada 2. Quicker process - just add water and wait instead of pouring slowly etc. 3. Full bold coffee taste. If you want it lighter just add more water. Now I am planning on getting the Presse by Bobble which is a travel mug and french press in one.

It's just more difficult to throw away the coffee grinds. I wonder how to wash the insides of a Chemex.

I LOVE coffee!! I found your channel today while trying to decide if I should try a Chemex - I have always been a French Press or Espresso person. After watching you and Melissa try both, I decided that I will stay with my French press. Glad I found your channel!

When it comes to fullness of coffee, I prefer the coffee press. I taste the coffee right on the spot. One of the cons is that some coffee ground sets in the cup.
@KevinBoutelle3 жыл бұрын
Chemex here, but your process is off. Others have noted same. You should try this again with water at the correct temp and allow the coffee to bloom with a pre-soak in the Chemex.

Andy I love your vids bro but if your educating people please make sure you know what you're talking about. You made the chemex wrong and the terminology you are using is all wrong... This comment is coming from a professionalz.

Definitely should have bloomed. Plus control your pour. You should be able to get a very similar extraction from each type of brew, with different qualities to each.

Nice comparison looking for more. Does anyone know whether fast coffee is healthy? Like Nescafé Because it's super quick to make.
@kevikevz5 жыл бұрын
George You’re just exposing yourself to the chemicals in the container of the Nescafé cup. This is opposed to glass which is pretty much inert aside from the paper filter of the Chemex or plastic components of a cheaper French press. Aside from that there isn’t as many options in terms of the coffee itself when you’re buying the coffee cups. In the end you’ll probably be fine either way though.
@starstop10635 жыл бұрын
Hmm - chemex doesn’t seem all that awesome - I just put grounds and hot water in a mason jar, let it sit relative to the motivation I need that day, and strain it out into my cup - odd but effective

I'm no coffee expert, but I've always been under the impression that water temp should be somewhere closer to boiling. 190 to 200 or so. Also, did you properly bloom the coffee for the pour over? That might also effect the darkness and flavor characteristics. I've always been a fan of the French press myself though. I feel like it's easier to control pretty much all aspects of the brew process, whereas when using a filter for pour over or drip, you're adding an element that could affect the coffee from filter to filter, and manufacturer to manufacturer. That's just my opinion though. I'm not sure how much of that opinion has been substantiated. But I'm still certain, with proper technique, pour over should come out much better looking and tasting that whatever it is you brewed right there. XD

Hey bro! Isn’t it 195-205 temperature range? Not 150? Also I think your Chemex was brewed a bit weak 😁 Love the coffees 😁☕️ Sorry, I’m a coffee snob 😂
@desertrainfrog16914 жыл бұрын
Don't even have to be a coffee snob to know that one. I've heard anywhere from 180 to 200 ish. 150 is way too low?
@garick3 жыл бұрын
Why a glass French press and not a metal one? Don't you want to keep the temperature as steady as possible if using an immersion method?
