La Marseillaise des Blancs (The Marseille [Song] of the 'Whites'), also known as La Contre-Marseillaise (the Counter-Marseillaise) is a royalist and Catholic adaptation of the national anthem of France, La Marseillaise. The lyrical content of the Royal and Catholic variation is strongly counter-revolutionary and originated from the War in the Vendée, where locals attempted to resist the republican forces in 1793. The name "Blancs" refers to their use of royal white flags and symbols.
FRANÇAIS : La Marseillaise des Blancs ou la Contre-Marseillaise, est une chanson française écrite en 1793 et conçue comme une réponse à La Marseillaise, hymne des révolutionnaires. Ce chant est découvert dans le portefeuille de Jacob Madé dit « Sans Poil », un chef de paroisse tué le 16 mai 1793. Tout comme les partisans de la République, les Vendéens (ou Bas-Poitevins) ont leur propre version de La Marseillaise.

Fun fact: the same man who wrote La Marseillaise would write Le Chant du Jura over two decades later. Le Chant du Jura (also known as Vive le Roi) is an extremely monarchist song celebrating the restoration of the House of Bourbon.

La Marseillaise was written by a royalist, Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle, look it up. People think the song is anti-monarchist, but it isn't, the enemies mentioned in the song aren't the royalist. So it doesn't matter. The author was imprisioned and almost executed for refusing to swear the Republican Constitution.

Side note: Claude Joseph was often called moderate republican, because he did wanted France to become a Parliamentary Monarchy, but didn't supported France becoming a Republic, the abolishment of the Monarchy or the execution of the King, so he was a royalist. To this day French republicans prefer to call him moderate Republican to avoid the embarrassment of having to admit their anthem was written by a Royalist.

It's also worth mentioning that it's been a European tradition for the last two centuries prior to the Revolution for rivalling factions to steal each others work and make it their own. For example, the Dutch national anthem (the Wilhelmus) was directly based off an anti-protestant French song called "Chartres" which was popular during the 1560s.

I'm really trying hard and I'm struggling to figure it out, and I almost brushed it off as "Maybe it's just too-old French, that's why I couldn't understand it." Now, I can hear "humilieraient."
