Vive Le Roi (Long Live the King), alternatively known as Le Chant du Jura, is a French song written in 1814 to celebrate the restoration of the Bourbon Dynasty to the French throne. The song was written by Rouget de Lisle, who famously wrote La Marseillaise, the French national anthem.

The song is "Le Chant du Jura" by the way. Made by the same guy who made "La Marseillaise"! (It was initially written as a patriotic song for the French Royal Army of the Rhine before the Republican lyrics were added). Vive le Roy! ⚜ Bourbon Restauration!🏳🏳🏳

The one who wrote this song also wrote la Marseillaise is a fact that I simply cannot get over. His first song, which was la Marseillaise is so anti-monarchy that it's hard to believe that he was a supporter of Louis XVIII and Charles X, though he became disillusioned with the latter in 1830, during the Second French Revolution (1830-1832).

Yes it’s hilarious. Thing is though I don’t believe he ever actually intended La Marseillaise to be Republican, from what I can find he was a lifelong royalist who was almost executed during the revolution for refusing to swear allegiance to the republic

@@MonarchistMusic Then why did Rouget de Lisle fight for the Republic if he refused to swear allegiance to it? I mean, I know he was a very reluctant Revolutionary, but that he eventually fought for the Republic probably implies that he meant La Marseillaise to be Republican, even if he was at first, a royalist.

@@mikeor- Following the proclamation of the republic he was imprisoned, and only freed during the Thermadorian Reaction, after which he retired. He only fought in the revolutionary wars during the time when France was still a monarchy

@@MonarchistMusic I see. I didn't know he was imprisoned, and I understand that La Marseillaise was never Republican. It was a war cry against Austria and Prussia, not the monarchy. What I don't understand is why he was not guillotined.

@@mikeor- Most of the "Republicans" in the very early stages of the French Revolution were, as far as I know, actually just Constitutional Monarchists who still supported the King.

If you want another monarchist song about the spanish monarchy I recommend "donde vas alfonso XII?" A popular song in honour of his majesty king alfonso the XII (one of the greatest Bourbon kings of the dinasty) and the loss of his dear wife Maria de las Mercedes de Orleans. It's not an hymn or important song, but it ilustrates the sadness of the king, and with him the people's one who loved the royal couple. There is a movie with the same title of the song and a sequel about the second wife of alfonso ("donde vas triste de ti?")

I know that Canadian Royal Anthem in Memorial Day started with God save the queen BUT the choir started with singing "Vive la Roi". I'm from #kualalumpur , can i know why they (Canadian) singing start in English and finish in English? I hope @Monarchist Anthem upload the French version of Gof Save the Queen.thank you

I might upload the Canadian French version of god save the Queen eventually yes. The reason they switch is due to Canada’s multilingual nature, English and French are both national languages in Canada, and as such god save the Queen is often sung twice, once in English and once in French, when it’s in a Canadian context

@@orangecobraEU Wrong, dictators have no legitimacy nor tradition, they just took the power though force. While royal families have a long tradition and legitimacy, anyone who is born in it gets the duty to do the best for the nation and gets a high quality education for it, with the best teachers. Dictatorships are systematic, what the dictator tells is law and he's only influenced by a few people close to him, usually a small elite. While monarchies are organic, the monarch does hold a significant power but he's limited by the natural institutions of society such as the church, the academia, the guilds, the military, the local authorities, the court etc.. so monarchs cannot do anything that they want, they have this moral barrier established by such institutions.
