Depends on where you're living, I can tell you that! I would personally NEVER do that, but It was something common where I was living, especially on sundays mornings at the bakery.

This video was so insightful and fun! You ladies have such warm, incandescent energy. After my time in France, I noticed that the Parisian people especially were slow burners, so to speak. They could be a bit more cool and reserved and that is totally okay. In the states, a cool and reserved temperament is often interpreted as arrogant or even that something is wrong with the person. My personality is on the reserved side and here in Florida, I get asked all the time "Are you okay?" Usually, I'm totally fine, but the expectation is that you should ideally have a huge smile on your face and be uber-delighted by everything and everyone. I got the impression that the French find that quality artificial and off-putting, as do I. I love that the French are overall more natural in their greetings and interactions without any forced bubbliness, which can honestly be exhausting.

I’m not french but I’m like that too; usually reserved. So it helped me adjust well and make friends later on when I used to live in Paris.

There has to be a "juste milieu" between American over-friendliness and French aloofness. French people are terrified of talking to strangers or having someone talk to them, but when they visit the US, they rave about how friendly people are.

"American teeth" 😂😂😂 You cracked me up!! Like they have more or they are different!! Straighter and whiter, for sure. Definitely a good habit we should pick up in France. But dental care is sooo expensive (and we are so used to oay so little for our health in general that spending money on dental care is not something we are used to).

I've only been to France once in the late 90s, but the #1 thing I couldn't adapt to very well was the lack of ice. Even if you get it, it wasn't enough and it was half melted. I was visiting in September and it was unusually hot. Getting a non-alcoholic drink was more expensive than if I wanted beer or wine! I think I paid $9 for a French version of 7-Up with a modicum of ice. Worth every penny. Also, the lack of AC was a thing for me. Even in the Louvre it was stifling! Inconveniences aside, we had a wonderful time. Beautiful country.

Great episode! Kate has mentioned a few times how she hates the smell of certain cheeses in the fridge. My MIL has a tupperware 'cheese keeper'. I'm going to get one when I move there. It holds all the smell inside, until you take it out and open it up. Then you're like, 'who cut the cheese?' LOL

k. monteil... a salon great idea!!!!! I have a huge issue when you open the fridge and it makes the house smell like the worst gas 🤪 can not handle it! Designated tupperware would be perfect!!

Hey ! I was going to comment the same ! My mum uses a boite à fromage from Vitrine Magique, very easy to find and get delivered (though I would advise you keep all the cheeses wrapped, not like in the picture on their online shop). Love your videos, keep them coming our way ;) Happy cheese eating !

Maybe it is just being in California, but I see a huge variety of styles and cheeses for Mac n Cheese if you're going to a sit-down restaurant. "California Cuisine" is sort of a mix of American, French and Asian styles, so the variety is endless....except for the fact that you will get avocado with it. :)

Just in case, about Asians in Paris. Paris 13ème Asian area was formed in the mid 1970's, after the end of the Vietnam war ! Paris Belleville, métro = Belleville was formed in the end of 1980's, after the China mainland opened to the outside world !

It is interesting that in America you dress up for work usually and after work you dress down. In Scandinavia you wouldn't dress that formally for work but if you are going out on a social event you would dress up, for the occasion so to speak. Funny how different cultures are.

I agree about everything except the part about making friends. It's not necessarily easier for immigrants to make American friends in the US. Most have little interest in meeting people from other cultures, which isn't really the case with French people.

I am doing a masters degree in America, and I completely disagree! Having lived in both countries, Americans are much much friendlier to foreigners, and just strangers in general. The French have better bakeries though =)

@@honas908 It's really a difference in HOW to make friends..... idk how the French do it but in the US, making REAL friends is difficult. Europeans tend to mistake the "American Friendliness" with "I actually want to be a close friend." For Americans, it's just being polite. Friendships are formed by seeing the person often enough to actually have enough superficial conversations to eventually break into more personal conversations that eventually develops into a solid friendship.... even then, the friendship could end at any time with or without notice.

Yeah .... you put stinky cheese in a tupperware ... it help indeed to make it more stinky. It is better to use a "terracotta cheese bell" ( Google translator ) , I mean, a REAL ONE, to keep your cheese out of the fridge : no smell, and you can keep different cheese together ( well, a "Maroilles" alone should be better ^^ or with some cheddar to make it tasty )

They say that the French are very rude! I had absolutely no problem in Paris. Actually they , specially the senior people, were helping. So, am guessing that it depends on u as well 🙏❤️

I'm glad you think that lol! In my experience, I had way more issues with rude people in France which is my home country than in the US. So I do get why french people are seen as rude. Even working in fast food as a student was a pain in France because of people rudeness, that was an everyday, if not every hour matter. Now in the US, still working in a place where I meet hundreds or thousands of guests a day, I rarely have issues with rude people, if it happen it's a once a month problem

What shocks me the most with Americans is when they don't say in groceries : bonjour, merci , bonne journée.. even here sometimes the cashier plays the role of the social worker lol that's a bit upsetting when you're in a hurry

I remember whhen I was younger I always dreamt of living in France. But now that I’m older, I realize there are too many things that I like from here in the US that I don’t think France has. I like my big portioned fast foods, big stores, cross country driving, using a car for just about anything that has to be done outside of home, and my guns! I may consider living in France a year or two just to satisfy my curiosity tho.

Puisque vous faites allusion à la tenue vestimentaire des français, il me semble impossible de ne pas préciser que plus personne ne porte le béret en France depuis les années 60, sauf peut-être encore un peu dans le Bėarn dont ce couvre chef est originaire et certains corps d'armée à l'occasion de parades militaires.

What's the deal with mac & cheese in the U.S. ? In France it's typically a meal for kids. Not refined for grown-ups. Also at 4:51 about the "germ" phobia, typical American reaction where everything needs to be aseptized. Germs aren't so bad in a way.

We LOVE mac and cheese in the states. There are lots of gourmand mac and cheese for adults. It's completely acceptable to eat as an adult! And i wouldnt say that i have a problem against germs but i wouldnt put my bread down on the bus seat because its just gross. To each his own though :)

Maybe a lot of people just don't so it's standard for it to smell. But we do officially have a cheese box for our own fridge now!

Pourquoi est-ce que le titre et la description sont en français alors que la vidéo est en anglais ?

Il y a des sous titres en français. Si vous étés français, vous voyez le titre en français mais si vous êtes anglophone, le litre est en anglais. C'est plutôt KZfaq qui gère cela!

Aouch ! Understanding how you study France, and points you get from ... Hurts quite a bit ! Why you don't ask for screwdrivers at the restaurant like the normal folks ? Whatsoever that door is keyed close, you won't have that great opening with a screwdriver ! Try with fries ! 🤔😌😁😎 🍾😇 Nevermind

But, most of us "French" travellers are not that educated nor conscious about habits, norms, and implemented means but ours . Malheureusement, le commun des voyageurs en terre étrangère reste la propension, la tendance a ce regrouper, se retrouver par, a minima : la langue . Et, ce n' est pas que, ou exclusif, aux français . Je comprend on ne peut mieux les exprimés, étant attaché aux droits du sol qui, eux, liaient, légitimaient, justifiaient . De fait . C'est douloureux, et, vous n' êtes pas mise en cause en l' espèce.

I hate how everywhere in France, when you buy a baguette, the paper bag where it comes in never covers the whole baguette... And then people just put it anywhere and everywhere with that uncovered part of the bread just laying on the dirty surface... Disgusting.

de toute façon des germes , il y en a partout . pour nous rester en pyjama toute la journée même sortir dehors c'est un manque de respect envers soit même et les personnes qui vous entoures . si la personne reste en pyjama toute la journée c'est quelle est malade ou dépressif

the story about screwdriver sounds so fake and stereotyped... You find them in any supermarket and in any "home depot"-style stores. I don't live in a big city and I know multiple places where I can find a screwdriver at 5 minutes from my place.

@@elizewyn Pour votre gouverne... faisons un peu d'histoire !! En 1066 après la conquête Normande, et mise en place une administration francophone... La français était devenu la langue de la cour. L' anglais n'a cessé d'être nourri du français depuis cette époque !! Selon des études linguistiques, plus d'un tiers du vocabulaire anglais actuel est d'origine française.. Les mots d'origine française représentent plus des deux tiers du vocabulaire anglais... Vous pouvez vérifier !! Un homme politique du début du 20 S dixit : [ L' Anglais est du Français mal parlé !!] Il n'est pas faux, que de nombreux français ne parlent pas bien l' anglais...Mais proportionnellement, le monde anglo-saxons ( England, USA, Canada saxon, Australia, etc ..) parlent peu d'autres langues étrangères mise à part les gens issues d'autres ethnies... Simple constat !! Et j'ai des origines anglo-saxonne et écossaise ..

@@jamespower7130 the US being Anglo-Saxon makes no sense. Most people from European heritage in the US are German, Irish, Scottish, or Spanish. The originally colonists that became the US were from England though they made up a small amount of the immigrant population, especially over time. Most everyone in the Americas has heritage from people's of Spain, Ireland, and Scotland before anywhere else, and in the US Germany makes up the most common family heritage, though of course we are all mixed

Quand vous parlez de Paris en disant que c'est une "ville superbe", j'ai le regret de vous dire non ! Ce n'est plus la ville ou il fait bon vivre, Paris est de plus en plus sale, on ne peut plus circuler, il y a des drogués est des SDF partout, l'insécurité et la violence sont en hausse exponentielle due à une immigration massive et incontrôlé, il y a beaucoup plus de pollution qu'avant, et la gestion de la ville est une véritable catastrophe. Non, je suis désolé, mais Paris n'est plus la plus belle ville du monde.

Elle connait trop la culture française pour confondre. C'est connu que certains américains sortent faire le courses en tenue de nuit. Par contre nombre de français les font en jogging, et alors ? La moitié des NIke sont achetés par des buveurs de bière ventripotents pour aller faire les courses le samedi avec Bobone...

Interesting concept! When i worked in the service industry, i would only work 1 day a month on the weekends. The shifts were split so that we werent working most weekends and the stores could still stay open. I'd have to say as a consumer and an old service worker, I prefer this way!
