Correction: Shang Tsung was living rough, selling fake potions before being approached by Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung taught Shang Tsung the greatest sorcery. Shang Tsung was plotting against the realms before Shang Tsung revealed himself and betraying Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung and other Shang Tsung's fought alongside against Shang Tsung. On the pyramid, Shang Tsung tries to defeat Shang Tsung before he is killed off by Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung is defeated by the protagonist which you can choose as Shang Tsung.

What Liu Kang failed to understand is that Shang Tsung wants to be who he is. You want to redeem him, make him “good”? Give him what he wants and give him motivation to be “good”. Same with all others he took powers from, Vaeternus wants to be immortal, Quan Chi wants to be who he is.

(Your Mileena, and 3 evil Mileena who try to stab your eyes.) 💙 If you play as Jhonny Cage, there are 5 Jhonny Cage (or more) in the scene. (Your Jhonny, 3 Jhonny who help you fight evil Goro, and 1 female Jhonny who fight you, and maybe other fusion Jhonny.)

So basically we had 2 good versions of Shang Tsung for the first time in the entire series. The Shang Tsung we play as and the Titan Shang Tsung that got absorbed alongside Quan Chi. Technically, the playable Shang Tsung isn't so much "good" as he is "the lesser evil" here. He's expressly allied with Liu Kang and the heroes out of both self-preservation and a desire for revenge on his Titan counterpart - apparently, even being deceived by another version of himself is an unforgivable insult. Although the fact that he's actually, wholeheartedly working with the good guys without even planning a backstab is still the closest to heroism that he'll probably get in this timeline.

The fact that there's a good Shang Tsung and Quan Chi in the multiverse who proudly sacrifice themselves for the player means that Liu Kang made a mistake by giving a powerless and miserable life to his Shang Tsung, he could be at least a neutral figure with proper life and good lessons. I mean General Shao at least had a reason to not be a threat or conqueror before titan Shang tsung appeared by having him trying to honor his father's legacy.

@@FrenchOverlordAs far as I am concerned, every character in the Armageddon chapter of the game is a titan with their own timeline. Liu Kang himself admits that the possibilities are endless, with that in mind, the odds are that this Shang Tsung simply dresses the same as the Shang Tsung from Liu Kang's timeline - but isn't the same Shang Tsung we've become familiar with since the start of the game. Otherwise, interactions like the "and they called me the chosen one" line make zero sense.

I love that they turned Shang into an anti hero, he pushes the plot forward, he’s like shujinko in that he thinks he’s doing right until it’s too late and has to team up with lui kang to save everyone. Honestly I think Shang will have the best overall character development in the series moving forward. In my opinion lui kang secretly set this timeline up for Shang to become champion of mortal kombat in the future when everyone else is dead and he’s the only one lui can rely on

Wish the New Era shang stays and fix the problem to redeem himself to fix his mistake and then he is the one to hold on the timeline and decided to be the new titan and create and designs his own timeline of his own but a better version with no corruption or tricks. Then becomes the protector of both earthrealm and outworld. Mentoring raiden(the great raiden) then later a million years fujin would be liu kang and modern raiden would be kung lao. Kung lao is the bo rai cho and liu kang is the fujin. Then sub zero is sektor, smoke is tundra and cyrax is johnny cage. Johnny cage is kabal(the mk9 version who quit the black dragon). Striker would be jax and kira is sonya. Kano will be sektor and bi han is cyrax, kenshi is scorpion, kuai liang is smoke, kobra is kano, sonya is kira, hsu hao the sorcerer and advisor to onaga, goro is the general and still champion of outworld. Shao kahn is the king of edenia and his queen is li mei, sindel is the umgadi general and tanya is her 2nd in command. Jerrod is the king of outworld and close ally to NE Titan Shang tsung(advisor of both earthrealm and outworld). Onaga is the conqueror of orderrealm and chaos realm. Mileena is not a clone or related to kitana. Kitana is the clone and onaga's daughter. Ashra is the evil version of sindel.

Lol, it's funny how they remix the characters with random cosmetics and names. Kinda like a callback to the earlier MK days where they characterize supposedly glitched characters. i.e. Reptile from MK1, Smoke from MK2, etc..

Shang Tsung got his powers from Titian ST yet he’s also learning and found his Island, even tho Lue Kang nerfed him. It’s seems like he is literally Lue Kangs Equal. They are Yin & Yang, always will be my main to use their own Kombatant against em 😂 🐍

Part of this makes sense, since this version of Shang Tsung only exists bc of Titan Shang Tsung, so you can argue he have some good will for the safety of the timeline. Even if his ending was all a ruse and leads him to the island

Question is Shang Tsung in this game harder to fight as a boss than as an opponent. Does he have boss exclusive moves or can you use every move when you play as him.

he doesn't have anything special as the final boss so i presume this is why the player start with less health when you fght him at the top of the pyramid. You could also argue that his Kameo being Quan Chi is special since he's still not in the game yet but overall it's just regular Shang Tsung

They only know that this Shang Tsung is not from Liu Kang's timeline and that he fights for them. They do not know anything else about him(unless this is Kitana's Shang Tsung, then she knows him the best).
