Thank you for recognizing Sgt York. I'm personally not related to this hero, but I am from Tennessee. I served in the 82nd at Ft Campbell for 4 years. I have a proud US Army family tradition, dating back to the American Revolution.

What an amazing story and man, sadly I've noticed that WW1 history is seemingly overshadowed by other events in history, I know I don't remember learning alot in school about it but I do remember sgt. Yorks story. I'm really loving sabaton, they are so talented and I'm happy I discovered them here. Also, could you add to your list either another sam onella or oversimplified? I'm sure any you choose would be good. Thank you as always for the video and thoughtful commentary, wishing everyone a fun, lazy Sunday!

Thanks to KZfaq, we're finally talking more about the First World War. With pleasure to do some more sam onella or oversimplified, I was just thinking about it! Have a good Sunday!

We don't get much WW1 in USA history classes. WW1 just isn't considered "US centric." Pick a documentary - If 5 pts, you'll get abt 10 mins of USA near end of pt 5. Good luck having Hollywood make a movie abt "Doughboys" breaking the Hindenburg Line during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Great Depression & WW2 cast big shadows. In Europe WW1 vets are "The Lost Generation." In USA, they're "The Forgotten Generation.". Sabaton is exposing us "Yanks" to more WW1. Sabaton has done justice to US impact on WW1. US has WW1 stories & heroes. Washington DC finally has a National WW1 Memorial (will be completed this Fall). Pershing Park on Pennsylvania Ave. now beautiful. When complete, it'll be largest free-standing bronze monument in the country. They had to find a foundry in UK to do the 12 ft. casts in detail & hi relief worthy of our American Doughboys. My daughter & I put American flags on vets graves on Nov. 11. Section in cemetery in our city called "Nurses Row." 4 Nurses (WW1 vets) buried together. I make sure she puts a flag on 1 of 'em to pay respects to brave American ladies who went b4 her. Important our girls know women hv served & sacrificed for USA, not just "guys like me." 1 of Nurses has a heroic story. If interested, reply.

Have you ever heard of the song "Forgotten Years" by Midnight Oil ? They are an Australian band. Since you like history and music, you may like it. The song is about World War I, and the music video was filmed in the Douaumont Ossuary in France. It was a big hit back in 1990.

I knew Midnight Oil but not this song at all! I really like it, thanks a lot for the discovery!

I would suggest reacting to Sabaton "The Future of Warfare", It is about the first Tank engagement in history in 1916 at Flers-Courcelette and then in 1918 at Villers-Bretonneux.

Very interesting video, as always I appreciate your commentary and insight. Sabaton is awesome for spreading awareness of these people and keeping them in living memory, but your commentary brings more substance, makes it more real.
