R.I.P. to this fantastic man. This dude was one of the classic tv father figures for kids who didn't have fathers in their lives. I always both laugh so hard and scared out of my wits whenever Uncle Phil got pissed LOL. I wish we could get sitcoms like Fresh Prince or Married with Children again. Just true comedy gold.

Uncle Phil is just sooooo awesome, he may put you on the rack and come down hard every now and then but he does it out love and being a good farther figure. But if anyone tried to mess with his kids you would get a whole tin of wopass from Uncle Phil. RIP James Avery, Best TV Dad.

took me a while to realise "the white guy named ward" is a reference to "leave it to the beaver"... this show was so brilliantly written. i bet people write it off as "slapstick comedy", but this show was a 10/10. dont convince me otherwise. ive questioned it a lot. but this show was close to perfect in terms of a comedy show.

I see this moment as a show subtley paying their respects. Their show, and sitcoms as a whole, would not be where they are without Leave it to beaver. They also point out how the wholesome idealism of that show wouldn't work in the real world and call it out as such.
