Lion's Mane is known as a powerful natural nootropic used for memory, mood and cognition, but it is still a mystery as to exactly how it works. In this episode of The Mushroom Show, we break down new research that has revealed compounds which might be responsible for the growth and protection of neurons. We also dig into how mushrooms might be the ONLY non-animal source of an essential nutrient, and discuss new regulations for psilocybin therapy in Australia.

My aunt's vocal chords were paralyzed and the doctors said it was nerve damage. They said her voice would not come back. I gave her about 1-2 months supply of Lion's Mane mushroom supplements for brain fog... in three weeks her voice began to come back... in six weeks her voice was completely back. This was after a year of not being able to speak. Her brain fog has also decreased significantly.

I've definitely experienced my mental abilities deteriorate over a long period of depression and chronic fatigue, which very much affects sleep. Lion's Mane really does make a huge difference in my day to day life, often I notice when it comes to forming sentences. My friends have even commented, asking how I am able to speak quickly and clearly or being surprised when it comes to me speaking on more complex topics whereas usually I had started to avoid speaking unless it was a more simplistic topic due to feeling as though I wouldn't be able to keep up and/or clearly communicate. Hope this lil anecdote can convince someone to try it too! Especially if you have depression/chronic fatigue. Remember to check if it interferes with your existing meds and always come to your own conclusions on what's best for you.

I got in Round Up Drift Spray in 2010. It made me sick. I’ve had much problems with speaking. Sometimes worse. Sometimes not so bad. Recently ate Golden Oyster & Lion’s Mane - from Grocery. I don’t know which one or Both affect my speech, --both times I got a Combo container at the Grocery, I was pretty impressed that for first time since I was in that Glyphosate Drift -- I spoke EASY / SMOOTHLY. I often over the years tried to find which foods helped & hurt. Could never peg any. After reading Testimony I’m Commenting on I’m thinking WOW THERE IS SOMETHING WE NEED TO ACCEPT ~~ Mushrooms are a Big Gift. Should be Appreciated. Thank God for Them. I don’t buy Them at Grocery when They look old ~ start deteriorating. I tried a Box of Yellow Oysters to grow at home. Maybe air in my place is too dry. Glad I saw this Article. Thanks.

@jjhassy Yes. pharmacutical companies do everything in their power to make sure people aren't aware of the nearly magical effects of mushrooms. To be clear, the mushrooms I gave grandma were dried and then finely ground into powder and capsulated. So she was receiving extremely high dosages taking 3 capsules a day for 4 months.

I've been taking lions mane for months now, first as a high strength tincture and now as a capsule. I've felt some noticeable improvements: better short term memory, stronger critical thinking skill, more vivid thoughts, and as an extra fun bonus: very realistic dreams. I know it sound silly, but I swear to god I've developed faster reaction time and reflexes. I'll catch things I knock over or drop in an instant whereas normally I'd clumsily fumble them as they fell. Overall awesome supplement, one of the few I've seen actual results with.

MS affects the white matter whereas Lion's Mane seems to work on gray matter cells. That being said, the research is still early... so it could work on white matter too, but we might not really know it.

In just 6 months it completely transformed me not just mentally but physically. Most people with ms are heat sensitive and i experienced this too. After a few months on this stack i was installing solar on my house on 80 degree weather which translates on a roof to probably over 90. I was able to work all day in the heat which was remarkable. Manyany cognitive improvements were had from memory to being able to grasp new concepts.

@thistree9028 Жыл бұрын
Do research first. Pls be careful..PABA has been banned in the UK and India due to allergic reactions, and liver, even cancer issues. The FDA no longer considers it safe for topical sunscreen use. It actually occurs naturally in some foods including mushrooms, though probably in very small amounts. Not everything natural (manufactured vitamins?) is healthy, especially in such concentrated high amounts or long term. Thanks for sharing about UV for dried mushrooms! It seems that the suns rays can permeate the dry stuff, and the chemical makeup in the mushroom,still intact, has something to do with it? Worth looking into this a bit more. So, out the door my mushrooms go! Also, led lights usually don’t have UV, some t-5 bulbs do. Maybe I’ll put them under that in the winter (switch out a bulb with a UV one for 20 mins. or so) since I grow micro greens indoors then.

Had a big surprise on a texas trail the other day and found either lions mane or bears head tooth, though hikers are discouraged from harvesting then I took a few with the intention of trying to clone and cultivate them, so according to my thought process it wouldn't be as wasteful as taking the little of what I found just to eat them, can't wait to see what effect they have

I'm also interested for same reason. Relapse remitting ended 1996. I started taking Lifestyles Intra 1994 (on and off 2008). Diagnosed at 18 now 55yrs old. Migraines, memory loss, mood swings still prevelent short long term memory retention declining. Been microdosing golden teacher and it's helping. Next time with neurologist I'm asking to be consider for this type of prescription and therapy. I have never taken any prescription medication as for MS. Took the holistic approach as best I could afford. I was in rough shape for a long time. Feeling better than I ever have in my life today than any other time. I was to be in a wheel chair and bed ridden by 40 yrs old possibly dead. I was not going to be a pharma lab rat. 2 school friends same diagnosis same age.vthey were lab rats. One blind the other wheel chair fear of death. Holistic approach is the way to go IMO. I live in Alberta Canada. Dr Swank (German) therapy was where I started. Then uncovered information with everything I could afford or find in libraries. I wish the drs would listen but I spoke to deaf ears while passing those in the dr's reception area struggling like I used to. I hope this helps anyone.

Didnt really notice how much of an issue this was til I had seggs with a hot woman and couldn't get it up, just a half hard on . Ive never experienced that before so it was honestly kind of scary. When I hear people say that magic mushrooms cannot be addictive, part of me just can't believe that. I do have two schizophrenic friends (their schizophrenia was triggered in their early adulthood by their use of cannabis and various psychedelics) who can easily fall in a cycle of using magic mushrooms everyday and it doesn't do them any good, it seems to fuel their delusions and further disconnect them from reality. Even I, who is not schizophrenic, sometimes abuse mushrooms for multiple days in a row and it can make me very mentally unstable just like it's going to make me very mentally stable when I use it sparingly in a proper context. When you're simply addicted to ways for your mind to evade reality, a small to medium dose of mushrooms can easily become something you do for the bad reasons. A large dose of mushrooms will not allow your mind to escape your miserable reality and will probably do the exact opposite instead, so that's reassuring... in a way.

Anything can be addictive. I wonder if they did any DNA tests on that, as this strongly depends on person. I tired many substances in my life. I did weed, cigarettes, alcohol, ecstasy, acids, opium (pure), amphetamine, brown (smoking coke), hash, shrooms (I still use them but in cycles and microdoses), and never ever get addicted. For example I was smoking for socializing in high school for like 6 months, and then just from day to day stopped. Didn't feel the need for a cigarette. Same with any other substance. But I know people who ended up miserably. But I also personally know 2 people who got rid of heroine/amphetamine addiction thanks to Amantia Muscaria. So it's hard to say.

The popular idea that adults can't grow new neurons is a myth, by the way. Can't remember what studies brought this idea to popularity in the past but every neurobiology expert I've heard on the matter said that this simply wasn't true, I even heard it in a lecture from more than 10 years ago... it's fascinating how some ideas stick around for so long even if they were proven wrong.

@@keelan6998Your girlfriend was thought this year? I think I have seen like 2016 Harvard paper saying exactly opposite. Anyway neurons are cells like any other ones, and human at any age can grow/replace them. Obviously it will not be the same rate as with kids. Similar as you age your regenerative process will be less efficient. Here is the same case. However neurons and nerves regenerates way slower then most other cells. I know from experience how hard it was to get rid of neuropathy effects caused by cipro antibiotic in my case. Even thou it was only mild case.
