Synopsis:
Cheng Shao Shang is a young girl who was forced to grow up alone after most of her family had to leave to fight in a bloody war. Thus she becomes stubborn and untrusting. She fends for herself in a town populated by people like her, who have been left behind by the war.
One day, a talented and powerfu general named Ling Bu Yi comes to the town - and falls in love with her at first sight. He resolves to marry her, even though it will cause him no end of problems if he decides to pursue this union. She also warns him that she doesn’t trust him, and that her stubborn personality might not be suitable for the wife of a general. But Ling Bu Yi also has deep secrets, and there are facts about his true identity that even he does not know. Slowly, they begin to trust one another a little more - and start to investigate the truth about Ling Bu Yi’s early childhood, family, and real identity…

This is the first time that the general sees Shaoshang and it’s sweet to watch his eyes softening as her stares at her. He already admired and was intrigued by her for the help she had given regarding her great uncle. He’s finally found the one he had told his father and the princess about.

My mother used to compare me to everyone else's family member. Didn't matter if it was beauty, education, work or other things. I hated my whole life, and it ruined my relationship growing up with my mom's. Mine is better now although the damage has already been done. I so relate to this character, and I hope there is a turning point for the mother-daughter relationship.

If you ever felt love at first sight like ling buyi…its a great feeling. When i first saw my husband this is what happened to me. The whole world stops,,you get tunnel vision and then have to snap yourself out of it lol 😝 19 years we been together happily married now and raised two children. Aaaahhh life is sweet ❤❤❤

OMG, the mom is freaking nuts! It is almost like she hates her daughter for something she as a mother did. Instead of making up and fixing her deficiencies as a mother, she is becoming worse. I’m hoping for the FL to get away from her mom. She is honestly causing her very deep scars.

Completely agree. Her mom seems to feel guilty deep down but doesn't want to take responsibility for her abandoning her own child and her lack of an upbringing, so she takes it out on her daughter. She is nuts!

Her mother is a control freak, expects her daughter to behave exactly the way she would approve, no more no less, without any regards for her daughter's character and wishes.

It will get better when you see the last few episodes. The mother being in army all her life is harsh outwardly but from inside she cares for her daughter.

Beyond Mommy Dearest and her non existent relationship with Niao Niao, the real magic of this clip is the look that comes over Ling Buyi's face when he first sees Niao Niao. He has seen Heaven! The facial.expression moving from.battle hardened general to that "Look Of Love" is priceless. It's wonderful to see love in all it's forms but that first look as if Paris first sees Helen of Troy, the "face that launched a 1,000 ships" is worth it's weight in gold. We almost never see that "falling in love at first sight" but we can live vicariously through this couple. They are so broken and battered from life and family but they still function and love and once they get together, they find their true selves and the mate they were destined for in each other.

Her mom is the worst mom ever, I hope,her daughter will eventually stand up to her and give her a piece of her mind, is cos of her that her daughter didn't turn out the day she wanted which am very glad for though,and when she finally came home, she treats her like a stranger and chose another against her own daughter, I hope there will be a pay back for that heartless , cruel decision of hers.

I agree. I can't stand this selfish woman. The way she treats her daughter is appalling...She should be happy that Naio Naio is a strong young lady....if she wasn't...she wouldn't have survived. She's doing a lot better than Yang Yang...who couldn't fight her way out of a paper bag.

Waiting to see if their connection with flourish. Lusi matches well with any actor. I thought her and Yang Yang would be weird since they’re both strong actors, but they were great together. I’m hoping the same for Leo. Leo is definitely playing a good cold hearted soldier though. I wonder how it’ll turn out.

I am also puzzle at the mothers behavior like ,what is she trying to achieve with her actions? She's warm to her niece but cold and indifferent to her daughter Is she mad at her for staying alive through all of the abuse and mistreatment that was inflicted on her at the hands of granny and auntie? Deeply confused 😕 at the writers plot line between mother and daughter!

It is not upto our children to be the role models it is up to the parents to have that role. I was always told to be good set an example as I was the oldest and I hated it they weren't my children but siblings.

I destest this mother from hell. She's horrible. The way she treats her daughter is sinful...especially since she's always doting on her cousin. She should be happy that Naio Naio is strong, rebellious and headstrong...otherwise she wouldn't have survived the abuse she suffered at the hands of her grandmother/aunt. I hope Naio Naio doesn't forgive her cruelty. The General gaze is hypnotic. His strong unyielding stare softens when he sees Naio Naio....she's left quite the impression on him. He can't take his eyes off of her. I can't wait until they officially meet....because things are going to get interesting...lol

The mother is a person who wants perfection in the child but she not considering that for 15 years she has made no contribution to the girls life and left her with venomous relatives. She should first give snd then take...than destroying the personality of the girl by comparison and belittling her

Her mother lives as a general with military precision usually and she came home expecting her daughter to be loving, dutiful and have been well schooled in etiquette and literature etc…..Instead she found an unruly daughter who had been badly mistreated and was used to dealing with matters in her own way using whatever means she had available. The mother then panicked because her daughter was now of marriageable age and completely unmanageable which was scary because back then if an important family had unruly children it didn’t just cause embarrassment , the family could be seriously penalised for not raising their children properly. Also if Shaoshang should marry and act badly her husband would be in his rights to beat her etc.

Lo de la madre no es entendibles. Después de lo que pasó con la tía y la abuela, viene la madre y la trata igual. Que pretende esta señora haciéndola de menos frente a la prima y pegándola? Menos mal que él va a compensar todo. Como la mira!! Eso es devoción.

I don't think her witch mother really cares about her cousin. She only pretends to love her because it improves her image in front of the society as a kind and loving aunt. She dotes on her because her niece could be used as a chess piece to fulfill her ambitions in the name of marriage. Also the reason she treats her daughter with indifference and disdain because she thinks her daughter is not talented and gentle like other young girls in the capital. She thinks niao niao couldn't be married into a high and noble family to bring benefits to her brothers and father. In feudal society beautiful and talented daughters were considered the stepping stones through which families could climb the social ladder in a single sweep.
