Synopsis:
Cheng Shao Shang is a young girl who was forced to grow up alone after most of her family had to leave to fight in a bloody war. Thus she becomes stubborn and untrusting. She fends for herself in a town populated by people like her, who have been left behind by the war.
One day, a talented and powerfu general named Ling Bu Yi comes to the town - and falls in love with her at first sight. He resolves to marry her, even though it will cause him no end of problems if he decides to pursue this union. She also warns him that she doesn’t trust him, and that her stubborn personality might not be suitable for the wife of a general. But Ling Bu Yi also has deep secrets, and there are facts about his true identity that even he does not know. They're upset that Ling Buyi chose her as his future wife. They can't believe that he chose a girl like Niao Niao over them...that's why they continue to attack her. He put them on notice with this little stunt...he was letting them know that he will not let them go if they bully his woman. He was fierce and ready for battle.

Yes, he definitely knows how to protect her...even from her own parents. He's not taking any prisoners when it comes to defending the woman he loves. Stalker Yaun would've never done this for her. He values his reputation more than anything else.

@@megv7481 Sorry but he was the definition of a stalker....lol When she rejected his little ball at the lantern festival...he started showing up in front of her/using his teacher as an excuse.....even after she agreed to deliver the message to her aunt...and told him they shouldn't meet again....he decided that she wasn't the one that can decide whether or not they would meet again.The dude didn't know how to take "no" for an answer....no matter how many times she told him that she wasn't interested....whatever his feelings was towards her....he totally disregarded what she wanted....just like her mother. He's a cute stalker...but very annoying...lol

Yes, I love the way she handled things...she still remembers how Niao Niao protected her from the first branch of the Luo family. She returned the favor....and Ling Buyi didn't disappoint. He handled his business and brought the house down...and I loved every minute of it.

These treacherous girls should get enough of attacking Niao Niao because she's always ready to slay. They continue to embarrass themselves whenever they go up against her. I love her style...she doesn't care...and she's always ready to defend herself. Now she has Ling Buyi by herself...so she won't have to fight her battles alone anymore. He will stand right by her side ready for war. Ling Buyi has a domineering presences. The way he walked in that room was as if he was commanding an army. He was putting the entire room on notice that he's not going to allow anyone to bully his wife. I loved the way he handled those two vipers who were trying to embarrass Niao Niao....he put them on blast big time. The way he embarrassed lady Wang about her family issues was hilarious. She couldn't utter a single word. When you play stupid games...you win stupid prizes....lol

who is quyi ? Did you mean Wan Qiqi ? Her cousin Yangyang is not much of a protector, look at how she clutches Shaoshang's arm in fear here when Ling Buyi stepped in... I rather liked that Shaoshang also has He Zhaojun grudgingly appreciate her now (previous scene) and the whole black guard of the general (later very funny episode: look forward to it). Although I doubted the insufferable Yuan Shen, here is also a clue that at least he is not ready to let others mock Shaoshang : he can do it, but the others will find soup on their clothes if not in their face ! Alas, Shaoshang is going to meet worse than the gossipping young ladies here : her enemies and false friends are going to increase again. Waiting impatiently for the release of episode 43, but already regretting that those revels will end at 56 on August 31 😥 I suppose I can rewatch for umpteenth time. Almost have some dialogues I could play myself now, in the original Chinese to boot😂😂😂😂 Or, I will switch to other genres and nice things like a story about a Fairy and Devil, or something mysterious with the handsome Xu Kai lost in the Kunlun Mountains. Maybe both, or more. I like to watch several things quasi simultaneously, and there is a recom somewhere I ought to dig up again because this looks promising.

6:44 Loved his show of support for his fiancée. He basically put everyone in their place, and threw shade to those gossipy “hens”. Who in a sense called NIAO NIAO a wh*re or a “lady of the night, for want of a better word”. And what a way he did it, basically saying you mess with NIAO NIAO, or anyone that matters to her “you will get the short end of the stick”.😤 That whole scene was priceless.😏

It's his first time being in Love. She is not submissive like the other girls and that is the type of girl he wants, one that can walk beside him. Because she is not from a high society family and doesn't have that type of power, he intentionally walked in with his guards to show that she now has power backing her. Remember, he has seen them bully her a few times before she was his fiancee, that's why he told her how to make the bridge fall.

Why the side kick soldiers appear in the banquette hall? I think the director overdid this scene. Ling Bu Yi alone straightening up those gossiping girls were plenty sufficient.

It was done to make a statement not only to those girls but to everyone in attendance. He put the entire room on notice about bullying his wife will never be accepted...now or in the future. It was also a message to Yao's uncle who's been causing problems for him in the courts by leading the charge about him being unfilial. He was killing two birds with one stone.

But this was done to show him over dominating and not respecting anyone even for the sake of defending Niaoniao. It sends shudders in the room, cause it brings in fear and inrimidation seeing soldiers in a civic area i.e even when he visits CSS house this is evident. So he did it to send a clear message not to mess with her or be ready to face his ruthlessness.

@@nekkojoy yeah LBY did it on purpose to show how little he care about “inappropriate-ness”. In the book he’s domineering but very polite and treat everyone well. But in this scene he was sending a message to everyone how “unreasonable” he can be if anyone try to bully his wife to be. The fact that the house owner - Mrs.Lou didn’t step in to check in these girls when they were saying those nasty things in a banquet like this show they lack propriety - and look down on the FL. As host, they should have handled it immediately but they let FL get bullied. They didn’t follow proper etiquette so LBY is giving back to them “one” by violating proper conduct. He was sending a message - you didn’t follow proper conduct, then don’t blame me for not respecting you. The foot soldier is also a slap in the face to the host. He literally disrespecting them in front of everyone by trampling in his banquet. Since LBY made such a big move - people definitely will talk, news spread and Mr.Luo definite will be embarrassed
