There's a big difference between "best player" and "best player for their time". Today hundreds or thousands of people are better than riot, but nobody today stands out as much as riot did in his time.

i think a better way to describe it is goat vs best player of all time. best player of all time is mainly in regards to pure skill level. goat is much more than just skill and has to do with accomplishments in respect to their era, impact on game/community, and skill in respect to their era all combined. riot will most likely forever be the goat of gd

If anyone was wondering, Space's first 5 demons were DeCode, Windy Landscape, Leyak, Wasureta, and The Golden. He has also recently quit the game, and his #1 spot on the Demonlist stats viewer has vanished. Edit: He is apparently trying to get his profile back and may come back to Geometry Dash in the near future. Do keep in mind that Nswish was verifying a way harder version of the golden before Bo made heavy nerfs which is why he had 52k attempts if he started with the current version of the golden it would've taken way less than 50k attempts for him to verify it.

I would argue that Riot is probably the best for a few reasons. 1st. He is the only one to beat BloodBath in 1.9 and the physics are different now so it’s a more difficult achievement. 2nd. For anyone in the community around this time, riot was seen how we see space today. He was knocking out the hardest level with seemingly ease. 3rd. His dominance in the community lasted longer than any of the other top players, first making a name for himself and finally finishing in 1.9 while all the other players like Space, Nswish, Tech, Biprex, Crazen, etc. were only dominant for a year at most while Riot sat at the top spot for over 3. And he was still the top player for a while even after the 144hz revolution. 144hz wasn’t the only reason he was the best.

I disagree cata on 60hz is harder than bloodbath on 144, and the ship physics weren't that much more different in 1.9. Best player during that Era is pretty hard to pin for sure,creepydash,powerbomb,sandstorm,and Giron David come to mind. Zobros also was getting consistently lower attempt counts on demons than riot as late as 2.0 on 60hz, I think latently zobros was definitely the best during that Era but we never got to see it. Kmarl verifying phobos was achievement far ahead of its time, and that followed near the end of riots regin. Also sunix had a longer rein as a top player being a top player in mid 2.0 and only stopping after bloodlusts verification. He was almost surpassed as top one twice,first by blass(quit before he could dethrone him), and later by wooshi,(sunix was behind him for a few weeks before going crazy and gaining skill at a rapid rate to become number 1 again). Upon sunixs return after years of not actively playing he was accused of hiding attempts by top players of the time,for getting 65 on zodiac in only 3k attempts. He would also snipe attempt wrs on artic lights and demios that wouldn't be surpassed for months during his brief return. In general riots rein as top dog was likely due to the best players beside him not having 144hz. And sunix managed to be number 1 longer without riots spefic circumstances.

As someone who played mostly between 1.4 and earlier 2.0, Riot was definitely the most memorable player. His skill with the ship was insane and I do sometimes wonder how good he'd have gotten had he never gotten hand pain.

Ngl riot and sunix are more ahead than space ever was, of course I'm not saying space was not ahead by much he was still dominant, just not as much or as long because the general skill level of the top players these days are so stupidly high it's hard to become as dominant as you could have been before.

I completely get it, I felt that way when cursed finally beat sakupen circles after a long and fought for journey against people telling him it was impossible but even playing the original, he was determined on getting world records and I was super upset he was not the verified, he ended up beating it. One of my happiest gd moments ever.

RIOT’S CAREER DIDN’T END! He beat Sonic Wave a few months ago, as well as Aftermath and a bunch of other old Extremes, and made big progress on Zodiac. Bloodbath was nowhere near the end-you didn’t even mention Red World Rebirth.

I think objectively Riot is the best. He revolutionized Straight Flying, best Bloodbath which led to Bloodlust, and he pushed the games skill gap so far. would Space even be where he is now if Riot never played. How different would the games skill gap be without Riot.

man i wish sunix was still here, he is one of the few people i actually thought would be able to verify top levels back then and if he comes back soon he can probably make a comeback and surpass all the top players we have currently, the old community is what drove him away because he used an fps bypass rather than spending hundreds of dollars on a 144hz monitor, i do believe he will get the top one if he comes back and gets the motivation back for the game

I would add Biprex to the list, mans beaten Sigma, Sonic Wave and Frozen Cave all on Mobile (60hz). There’s also Zentel, who’s beaten Crimson Planet on mobile (120hz). And the video is outdated on some parts, as SpaceUK doesn’t want to go on the extensive extended list grind, and Abyss of Darkness is now the hardest level.

idk i feel like just bec you beat lets say a top 40 demon on 60hz doesnt mean if you were on 360hz on pc you would be beating the top 5 its kinda more getting used to it and different timings and yea maybe it will take longer but it wont make you that different from someone who beat it on 144hz on pc or something

Spaceuk out of all players is the one who feels like “I’m making it look easy” kind of player. Like really, his incredible speed at achieving victories just almost feel devaluing right until you try it yourself. Everyone went through a tough path, climbing the mountain, to the point that some feel pain in the hand, while this guy just waving at them from the top of it and having a picnic with hot tea (no pun intended)

i know he was never really the clear cut best during his activity but despite taking extensive breaks combined still managed to beat things with extreme ease and if only he had stayed consistent and didn't get tired of the game im sure he would get mentioned here edit: like bro came out of no where to randomly beat the golden when it was near the top of the list another edit: blass was also absolutely insane at this game

You should mention Cursed also. He has a KZfaq channel called cursed. And he beat the top 1 demon “Abyss of Darkness” and the new top 1 “Silent Clubstep”. He’s really good and it took him only 2 days to beat bloodlust. And knobbelboy took 1.5 years to verify bloodlust.

A couple things: Putting Spaceuk for 1st is understandable. I would put Nswish personally, but I might be biased because he was my biggest influence when I was getting into geometry dash. They both share an amazing achievement and even though it looks like Space's presence is waning I'm happy that they were both able to influence me on my journey. Riot is deserved as the 5th place person. He had 144hz before anyone else, so while people were getting that, Riot already had it. People were also getting used to things, like the wave gamemode and clicking with a mouse instead of tapping a screen. Not that Riot wasn't good, but I'm just saying that he may have been a bit more gifted than talented in geometry dash. Finally, I would have probably replaced Sunix with Trusta or maybe even someone modern like Doggie or Cursed. I feel like Sunix, even though he had a big influence on the community, it definitely wasn't as big considering Riot had 96% and Mefewe had 98%. Doggie and Cursed are so awesome at the game and might even deserve it more than Sunix, even though I respect him for who he is. Good video though! I loved the editing and the effort you put into this was immense. Love your stuff man!

Sunix was the first person to overshadow Trusta and he basically overshadowed everyone during his era because he beat things so quickly and in so little attempts (despite the fact that every top player had 144hz at this point) He also beat 49 of the top 50 demons at one point Trusta, Cursed, and Doggie never dominated any specific era because there were always players at the same skill or better during their primes In order to get on this list, you basically had to be the undisputed best player with no competition for at least a year, and the 5 people on this list all had that reputation at one point, so I think this list is perfect

I think sunix is the best player of all time, he was consistently a top player for years and with people like baeru, trick and cursed around now there’s a debate to whether spaceuk is even the top player at the moment.

Nice video. I don't play GD as much anymore as I did like 6 years ago but it's interesting to see how the best player list has developed in recent years. For my money, I'm partial to Riot. The guy was such an icon in the extreme demon landscape and I would credit him with truly bringing the game to an 11. While there are technically better players today, Riot was way ahead of his time in a way that basically no one else has been. I wonder what he could have gone on to do if he was not so plagued by finger pains.

For their time, Sunix and Riot were absolutely the best. Riot verified Bloodbath, RWR, and also was the first to do both Cataclysm and ICDX. Sunix would literally beat extreme demons right after they came out, he also was the verifier of sonic wave.
