Dear Fr Warner, the gospel speaks of where our hearts truly are. In today's world we are exposed to so many temptations - wealth & luxury - all temporary things which distract us from what truly matters, our relationship with God. The things we gather on earth do not last for an eternity. We also need to be holy & our vision perceive only what is good. Jesus wants all of our hearts & by serving him with all our heart, soul, mind & strength we will store for ourselves treasures in heaven. Thank you Fr for this inspiring teaching. God bless you & keep you well always. 🙏 💕

Thank you Fr.Warner for the lovely title- If you are blessed, do not be obsessed. Joy is not having glamour at your fingertips. Christianity is often felt to be a religion that kills joy.We need to strive for purity everywhere and we need to turn towards the Lord to direct us. May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire and guide you Fr.Warner.God bless you and protect you always Fr.Warner. 🙏

Thank you Fr.Warner for your spirit filled and meaningful reflection. Joy is something that has a permanent effect. Jesus teaches us to place our trust in God, who will provide for our need and not for our greed. The Bible does not condemn wealth per se, but it condemns the love of wealth. Jesus also exalts us to strive for holiness and if we have failed to turn to Him, trusting in His mercy. My takeaway today is not to fall into the trap of hoarding things, but to reach out to the needy and place my trust in Jesus and love Him with all my heart, mind and strength. I will strive to lead a pure and holy life for Jesus is my joy of living; He is the King of life to me..... God bless you Father and take care of you.

Love for money and materialistic things are temporary and they do not bring happiness and eternal peace. They rather drift us away from God. Our real treasure is found within ourselves that God has blessed us with. We should rather be content with what we have and live our lives with gratitude and humility. Thank you Fr. Warner for today's reflection. God bless and heal you. AMEN!

Need and greed well explained. Love of money and love of wealth is what is condemned and not money and wealth per se

Indeed, if we love the worldly possessions more we will love God less. I need to decide what is more important to me, and for me loving God takes precedence always, all the time. Thank you Fr. Warner for this meaningful reflection today.

Wealth is not a sign of God's approval; rather, it is a test. Whether one passes that test determines whether one is following Christ, or the world. "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains" (1 Ti,mothy 6:10).

Ephe.6:10,11,12 Finally, be strong in the Lord with his energy and strength. Put on the armour of God to be able to resist the cunning of the devil. Our battle is not against human forces but against the rulers and authorities and their dark powers that govern this world. We are struggling against the spirits and supernatural forces of evil.

Fr Warner, just an interjection. I do not believe the 'secular' world has painted Christianity as devoid of joy..infact I have hardly if ever, heard members of the ''secular'' world speak about Christianity, but I sure do hear and often hear judgemental words on the secular world from allegedly orthodox Christians( to be read not as traditional orthodox Christians, but as 'Un-Christlike'). Sometimes we tend to forget, particularly in India, in times of grave persecution of what are called religious minorities, that ofcourse we do believe in Christ; and also, it is the very secular Constitution of India that protects the rights of religious minorities, including Christians, amidst that persecution. So the sometimes disdain for secularism i hear expressed, i do not understand. When the freedom fighters fought for India's independence, because of which you and I can freely speak now, they didn't think to sacrifice their lives only for their own communities, but in a united spirit for all..Christ has already said we are all given one spirit(jew and gentile etc etc). So let us respect and value that spirit, and not undermine the sacrifices of our "non-catholic" brothers and sisters that has brought us precious freedom. And on another note, whilst speaking of hoarding, can you imagine how different things would be if instead of shutting down each night, every church in the city of Bombay or elsewhere were opened out to homeless communities? Instead we ''hoard'' the space and keep those spaces empty through the night as women, children and aged sleep on the streets, often without any comfort. Why is that? You must ask and speak with your fellow clergy. Why do we not have living examples of Christ like living or even living as Blessed St. Mother Teresa's today? Where are we lacking and hoarding 'charity'? I daresay the churches of Christ belong to the poor and homeless, and must be opened out to them. It is painful to see the poor in distress outside churches like St Michael, Mount Mary Bandra and elsewhere, when they can be accommodated in churches lying vacant through the nights. Blessings. May the spirit of Christ Jesus and Blessed Mama Mary empower all to take just timely action. 🙏🛐✝️🕊️✨
