Is it too early to call an eel the official serpentine animal of the New York Times Crossword? 10:58 editing to add that espresso martinis are lovely! Good stuff if you’re a fan of coffee (and martinis I suppose).

We used to have a family saying - a wild wet day in the autumn was " just a day for tea and shortbread ". Comfort food.

We still use yon in Scots as in " I'm feeling yon way " meaning off kilter ( no weel ). Also yon yin meaning that one as in " yon yin is needing taught a lesson".

I never heard of a paper route. Here they are paper rounds. Someone that has aged beyond their years might be said to have had " a paper round , up Ben Nevis "

Do you really dial a push button phone? Buttons aren’t a dial. It’s only dialing on a rotary phone dial. We should have updated it to “buttoning”. Then we could have “button a friend” on that game show.
