Ahh good ol 'Monster. I personally know the guy who designed this game (artist friends, though the language barrier makes things awkward sometimes). These days he kind of doesn't talk about it, but it used to be a pretty big inspiration. The reason this game's neutral feels like molasses is because the combo tech gets pretty insane. You guys didn't really get a chance to explore it, but once you land one of those slow-ass normals you can cancel into dashes out of pretty much anything into standing strings and air dashes out of air stuff and all sorts of other crazy bullshit. I love this game, too bad we'll never see Ancient Cline.

Hmm its really obvious from the start that they used 3D models rendered into filtered low res sprites. I guess only Liam played enough GBA games to recognize the look. That's why he's our last hope for Sonic Battle and ZOE GBA lps.

This is a bizarre-looking game and I'm not talking about the furries. The glacial pacing, strange movements, all the info on screen, and obscure mechanics--I wasn't sure why this wasn't listed as a Scrublords episode. Then I found an entry for the game on Shoryuken and watched a video of high-level play and can confirm that the Zaibatsu are playing this game wrong. The game actually moves pretty fast when you're doing special moves all over the place and hit confirms often turn into 5 to 25-hit combos.

well this is a game. I knew they'd have to go obscure after a point (especially keeping up the "We will never play Blazblue for whatever reason" gimmick), but I was expecting like Akatsuki Blitzkampf, Big Bang Beat, Touhou Hisoutensoku, EFZ, or Gundam Battle Assault to be what they'd pick, not a game that literally doesn't and won't ever exist (beta gone from internet, never developed past beta). Also, does anyone else find it odd all the males are anthropomorphic while all the women are just human women?

Even though the sprites are really nice, something about the speed, combined with the music and the artstyle makes me think of a forgotten Genesis game.

The look of this reminds me of Dark Awake/Chaos Breaker, a great team-based fighting game.
