Do you follow the League of Ireland?

Irish people love to bash their own, the League of Ireland is a prime example of this. There's nothing like travelling up to Derry or across Dublin with your mates, to support your team. I can barely watch matches on the telly, I'm just used to actually being there. I support St Pat's by the way.

Being a cork city who goes to as many games as possible it's a shame when people don't support their,fair enough quality may not always be best but like all lower leagues they are needed because with them no premier divisions would exist.I love a good game and big crowd,unbeatable.I consider loi quite good and it has improved so much since my first game in 90/91 season

Thousands of Man Utd fans from Manchester stopped supporting them and set up FC United of Manchester. They are not a brilliant team and don't play in a top league but they are real fans who support their local club. Man Utd wouldn't care if 70,000 Chinese fans came to see them play, its all about the money, not about the fans.

Travel from Westmeath up every Friday to watch St.Patricks AFC since I moved here 10 years ago, love going to the games, it's crazy how many "fans" come out for European nights. But not for the league games. I remember as a kid Richmond being packed by both home and away fans. Hopefully it'll pick up.

Excellent insight even though its so short, personally from Kildare I have no local team have supported Bohs my whole life as it is the family team as such. I must say its the best thing anyone can do who loves ball, when we beat Rovers 4-0 last year it was easily the best night of my life. Everyone should go to a match, cause as they say 'Football on tv is like porn on the radio.'

This video portrays the problems the League as well as the system are having at the moment very well, hopefully people will take note and make the effort to go to a few games. Just saying I am a Shamrock Rovers fan, studying in Limerick and originally from Tipperary and I still make a solid effort to go to some of their matches, watch live matches and support the league in anyway way shape or form that I can, the team doesn't need to be local for one to go see them play!

I have been to both EPL and LOI games and I have to say, I prefer the League of Ireland much better! I support Cork City FC and go to as many games as I can! CTID

People think the league is rubbish if you got to any league of Ireland ground your guaranteed a brilliant atmosphere 300 in a block can sound louder than 60 or 70 thousand over in England

People who follow English teams instead of their own should be ashamed of themselves. The mentality of the Irish football supporter is all wrong. Every other country in Europe you see people supporting their own. I'm proud to follow my local team and I will always be.

In my opinion they should merge the Irish League (Northern Ireland) with the League of Ireland (Republic).

This is nothing compared to the scene in Singapore..

You say quality of play is irrelevant - how can it be? I was a massive LOI supporter but then realised the football quality was absolute shite! Apart from the quality issue, whilst Ireland has the Premier League pushed down its throats week in, week out, the domestic league will never flourish. Hate to say it, but football in Ireland is all but dead and buried.

People need to get a grip with it ...LOI is confrerence football and and no better..what ever way you can dress it up any way u want europe blah blah only making up numbers against reserve teams in europa league... not at the races..technical ability. fitness...

Tbh soccer is a sport for fairies and doesn't suit the Irishman. Jack up the soccer league and focus on GAA & Rugby. We would dominate Rugby if every soccer team became a rugby team.
