Thank you for this video. It felt like it was put on KZfaq specifically for me to see. What timing. My husband --my best friend--died from cancer four months ago and I've been struggling financially and emotionally. It's been really hard to keep up the facade of living my life. I created a website --not yet published--that combines writing with spirituality and that's been helping. Anyway, maybe one day we can collaborate something helpful for others What you create through videos is inspiring. THank you again!!!

Rumi was born as Mohammed Jalaluddin Balkhi, on September 30, 1207 C. E. in Balkh Province, Afghanistan. He descended from a long line of jurists, theologians, and mystics, including his father, who was known by followers of Rumi as “Sultan of the Scholars.” When Rumi was still a young man, his father led their family more than 2,000 miles west to avoid the invasion of Genghis Khan’s armies. The family travelled to Baghdad, to Mecca on pilgrimage, and to Damascus and eventually settled in Konya in what is now western Turkey. This part of the world was then known to its inhabitants as Rum, a name derived from the Byzantine Roman Empire that had formerly held it. Jalaluddin's name in religion and literature - Rumi - is itself derived from Rum. Rumi became a celebrated Islamic scholar at a young age and was admired for his learning. However, his life changed when he met the wandering mystic Sham al - Din in 1244. This meeting had a profound impact on Rumi, he felt Sham to be a divinely inspired person and he took him to be his Guru. Under the guidance of Shams, Rumi became interested of the way of the Sufi. Rumi is today thought of being a mystic and poet and is closely identified with Sufism within Islam, where devotees seek a direct union with God. Through his poetry, Rumi expressed his philosophy which included tolerance of all religious beliefs, the importance of goodness and charity, and above all, he advocated the importance of love. Rumi passed away on December 17th, 1273 in Konya, Turkey; his body was interred beside that of his father. Today, Rumi is loved around the world and is the best selling poet in the United States.

Samira * Atash Afghanistan was not any country under this time but part of Persian and it was quite normal that Rumi’ parents move to other part of Persan region to live and born him. He clarified his rote as Persian not Afghan in his books and poem several times, although maybe he born in the region which to day called Afghanistan. Imagine that your parents are Afghan and from Kabul and then they moved to Harat and born you there, then you grow up and leave trace of yourself as famous person in history, But Afghanistan becomes divided into new countries and Harat and Kabul stay separated. Should people from Harat say that you are not Afghan?
@samiraatash
@samiraatash 6 жыл бұрын
Sorena Parak It wasn’t Afghanistan yet - and only Persian Empire when it was conquered for a period - but the Afghan people existed long before you conquered. That is like saying someone isn’t Native American just because Europeans conquered America. They may be of the names region but their lineage doesn’t change. Even if the Region wasn’t defined by Afghanistan as a name, Rumi is still of the people. His poems were written in Dari - the original Farsi. And you miss the point of my post. Rumi said he wasn’t of any culture he was one with humanity.
@sorenaparak8219
@sorenaparak8219 6 жыл бұрын
Samira * Atash That is right. Afghan people existed but there is version in Rumi’s poem that he directly and without any vague words said he is Persian although he said he is not belonged to any land or country, but you interpret it in wrong way. He did not mean he has not country or not belong genetically to an ethic. He did mean that he got the level of spiritual progress which gave him the feeling that he was not more belong to any place but to God and light. Persian language was under this time as Rumi’s style, and Persian was spoken exactly as Rumi used to write . He left a lot of key words, position, geographically, which you can just find it in to day Iran around Ray, Tabriz and Hamedan because special. He did visit and mentioned many places from these regions. In many years ago when people born become the born place as part of surname, because there was not any registering system as today. That way people called him Balkhi although Balekh was named not just the place Balkh as city in Afghanistan also a huge part of Iran from Khorasan to Balkh was called by this way and exist a village “ Balkh in Iran which make the theory that maybe he could be from this village even. But strong reason he born in today Afghanistan, Balkh as Persian poem.
@samiraatash
@samiraatash 6 жыл бұрын
Sorena Parak what is your point? why are you so bent on proving he is Persian? He was born in Balkh - present day Afghanistan and also has Afghan roots so don’t discount that because it is fact - and he clearly spent most of his life in Turkey but was influenced more by Islam. This is the problem. Iranians never want to give Afghans any recognition to his background. But it is fact. And you miss the entire message of his poetry. Rumi was about unity and love for all cultures and humanity.

He was one of greatest Sufi philosopher from my country in Turkey where he lived in city called Konya.Also was another great teacher whom name is Sems-i Tebrizi from Iran.He came alone visit to Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi (that is his full name of Rumi) Sems he asked where he get his knowledges from Rumi.He told him some of his precious books as well.Sems wanted to see this books.Rumi gave him his books.After opening first pages of the books,Sems start to tear up book pages one by one and throwing to into the pool.Sufi Rumi get angry and exciting told him:-Why you doing this,are you mad? And Sems-i Tebrizi answered:"--Whatever you looking ,can not find inside of this books.But you can find in your heart,soul and mind,everything is in you.May the God blessing all good mankinds.Greetings from Turkey.

yl gdz Rumi is considered as a legend for Iranian literature, philosophy, academia, and cultural realm. Rumi is also greatly appreciated among Iranians, Tajiks and Afghans for his spiritual legacy as his work has highly influenced and enhanced Persian poetry and literature. In fact most Persian speaking people keep a copy of his Masnavi at home and recite its most popular verses in family gatherings and special occasions.

Think less, feel more. Dance Stop acting small. You don’t need to know the path, just take the first step. Forget safety, live with fear. You have to keep breaking your heart until it opens. Just to be alive is enough but only breathing is not being alive. Love is worth it. Silence is golden. Raise your words and not your voice. Your soul is more precious than anything. The wound is whet light enters your body. Live your life the way it makes sense to you.

Say I Am You 🌏 I am dust particles in sunlight. I am the round sun. To the bits of dust I say, Stay. To the sun, Keep moving. I am morning mist, and the breathing of evening. I am wind in the top of a grove, and surf on the cliff. Mast, rudder, helmsman, and keel, I am also the coral reef they founder on. I am a tree with a trained parrot in its branches. Silence, thought, and voice. The musical air coming through a flute, a spark of a stone, a flickering in metal. Both candle and the moth crazy around it. Rose, and the nightingale lost in the fragrance. I am all orders of being, the circling galaxy, the evolutionary intelligence, the lift, and the falling away. What is, and what isn't.
