Nana's Cookery

Күн бұрын

This video is more about technique more than quantity of ingredients. The quantity is dependent on how many people you're feeding. You'll need boneless chicken breasts-almost frozen (at least 4 oz. per person )but if you cook too much you can freeze leftovers, flour seasoned with a little salt and pepper, eggs (I start with 3) )whisked with a little milk to loosen the eggs, dry bread crumbs(plain or with seasoning of your choice, and oil for your pan(s).
Start with maybe 1/2 cup of flour and a cup of crumbs ,but have more handy to add as needed. It's better to start with less and add because you will have to throw out the flour and crumbs you don't use.
Slice the chicken thinly into strips. With the breading and seizing up when it cooks, the finished strip will be thicker. Have paper towels (or plates) and a bowl for your flour, crumbs and eggs.Dredge with reg. flour seasoned with salt and pepper.dip into egg mixture(let a little drip back into bowl if it's yucky),coat with crumbs and put onto a plate. It may be fried right away or you can refrigerate until later.Fry in hot oil on both sides and put on paper towel to drain when done. I make a honey mustard sauce(basically half and half or so)

I've been making this since the children were small and my director, producer has never cared for spicy food,so we keep the chicken simple with just adding salt and pepper. The rest of us can spice it up with the honey mustard. You can adjust for your family.

Just happened to stumble upon Nana's chicken strip recipe... I laughed because isn't it SO TRUE that your grandkids say that their mom makes it for them, but it doesn't taste like yours!!! NO ONE makes the best food like they first had it from a grandma/mother. My son (he's 22) loves my fried chicken cutlet (like yours), but I always say to him, "No one makes it like your Grandmother did!" Take care, Nana. I enjoyed your video immensely. I could tell that you are loved by your family. :)

Hello Miss Nana! My husband was a great cook & i specialized in creating tasty leftovers from his main meals. But he's been in Heaven for almost 4 years now, so I'm determined to do a better job of cooking for myself. One of the many things I missed when he was in the kitchen was the nuts & bolts of things. I know I shouldn't be intimidated by some darned chicken slices but I have been up till now. Thank you Miss Nana for showing me how to pan-fry up strips. Now all i've got to do is figure out what combination of seasonings he used...God Bless You!

I guess it is just me but I always use disposable vinyl gloves when I am cooking, as if I were in a restaurant. I especially never handle meat without gloves but if I am touching any food that I am serving others, I use gloves. You can buy a box of these in the first aid section of any grocery store or Walmart. I guess once you have experienced salmonella poisoning, you start going the extra mile to ensure you never get it again lol. It's a terrible thing >< shutters. Anyways, thank you for sharing. I am always on the lookout for something different to coat chicken in and it's interesting to see what other people use.
