It’s every hockey player’s dream to be in the NHL…not just Shane Wright. Then to blame Habs fans when everyone has been trolling Wright for having a shitty attitude… There has to be a reason he isn’t being played…something that people on the internet who are acting like they know everything, clearly don’t know. It always makes me laugh when people act like they know more about how to run a team than the actual professionals who do it 😂

Exactly. Wish I was hearing more of this as a Kraken fan. Our lines are solid as they sit, and with the addition of Burakovsky, forcing a young guy who’s struggling (if you’re comparing to Beniers) into the lineup would be a suicide mission for Hakstol. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and let the guy earn his spot just like every other young nhl prospect.

The reason why Kingston would trade Shane Wright if he ends up being sent back to the OHL is that the Frontenacs aren't going to be as competitive as they were when he was last with them (and even then, the Frontenacs weren't even that great of a team, minus a few prospects here and there). It's natural in the OHL for returned highly-touted prospects to be traded to Memorial Cup-contending teams, so they can restore draft picks and build for the next 3-4 years of the team. My guess is that if Shane Wright ends up being traded, it will be to a competitive team like Ottawa or Windsor. Being on competitive teams like those could help him get his mojo back, and get the wheels spinning again. I just wanted to clear this up because there's probably some people thinking that because Kingston might want to trade him, that it's his fault and that the situation is getting worse. This is something that happens in the CHL all the time. Even Tavares of all people was traded.

That exceptional status "bs" might inflate ego's for these young kids that think every one around them owes them something. I agree that things went south quick... We don't know what attitude he brought with him at the training camp in Seattle... Maybe we'll never know but things need to change quickly for him or else his confidence will plummet and he's going to loose his sharpness and wits. They can't keep healthy scratch him, for once. Anyone remember how in 1980 Montreal drafted Doug Wickenheiser and didn't play him while Chicago drafted Denis Savard who had a dynamite rookie season? But that was a time when the Montreal Canadiens were an organization steeped in tradition where players learned in the minors, watched from the press box then rode the bench and were slowly integrated into the lineup. So what's the deal here with the Kraken? Seatle is an expansion team that could use immediate help; confidence is important to a player's success.

@@ronaldwayne7092 Yes, Central Scouting had it between David Babych and Doug Wickenheiser but it was stated before the draft that the Canadiens would like to get Denis Savard. Central Scouting actually rated David Babych as the best player available and by January of 1980, Winnipeg Jets 1.0 were in the cellar and had announced plans to draft him. Don Cherry's Colorado Rockies had such horrible goaltending they fell to last spot giving Winnipeg GM John Ferguson fits. Montreal had that draft pick and needed a new centre to replace Jacques Lemaire and so they wouldn't have picked Babych anyway...they would have gone (and I believe they almost did) go with Denis Savard and many in the Canadiens organization wanted him. "Les Glorieux" didn't want to be "out-Frenched" by the Quebec Nordiques. But my point (or question) was whether Shane Wright would go the the way of Doug Wickenheiser. The Canadiens kept making Wickenheiser a healthy scratch.

I personally think Columbus 3rd round pick 96th overall almost 4th round pick Jordan Dumais will be the best player from this draft class . But I’m confident that Montreal drafted the best out of the trio but Jordan Dumais will be the best player from the 2022 nhl draft I’m disappointed that Montreal didn’t draft Jordan Dumais cause he’s leading the qmjhl in points and had 13 more points than Wright last year and had the best draft year for any qmjhl player since Crosby. Also Montreal five picks earlier drafted engstrom. I’m disappointed with that selection of selecting engstrom certainty when you fucking realize Jordan Dumais was still available.

its literally just QMJHL. Mesar is averaging 2 points per game in OHL rn which puts him on a 122 points pace season but that doesnt mean he will now be the best player from the draft. Points dont mean anything in a junior league, whats important is if a junior is able to transition into the mens ice hockey, not points in their junior league. Slafkovsky is so far the right choice because he is adapting to the mens ice hockey by far the fastest and best. Slaf was the first overall pick and so far how its going its showing it was the right choice. If Jordan Dumais will be the best of his class we will know once he plays a match with men but from what i saw him play i think he still has another 2-3 years playing in the minors.

He’s in a weird middle ground. He’s too good for junior, but not ready for the NHL. The NHL-CHL agreement is hurting him, because the obvious place he should be is the AHL

I don’t understand the big deal, I mean who are you gonna take out from the top 3 C’s? The whole plan was to scratch him 5 games straight so they could send him down to the A but injuries screwed that up. You don’t think being around the pros and practicing with the pros is giving him tremendous insight? And it should all play out in time for the world Jr’s then they can play him a few more games (up until 9) or 39 if they want to burn his first year but delay his UFA timeline (though it’s tough for me to see that happening).

Makes sense. Why would you waste your top pick on a player who didn't play overseas when his season was cancelled. As for why Seattle is not playing him, I think it's for trade value. If they put him on the ice, and he plays like shit combined with the potential attitude issue and choice not to play overseas, his value will essentially be nothing until he elevates his game ( which is not even a guarantee if they give him big minutes). So they are banking on the willful blindness of other teams to perhaps get something of value in return.

Okay, I did some calculations and I think those scouts are hypocrites. These are the games played by Slafkovský and Wright currently their entire junior career, international and whatever leagues that they were in. Juraj Slafkovský's current games played total: 93 Shane Wright's current games played total: 131 So, I don't get the "Not enough games played " mentally

Seattle is prob furious they drafted him. He has a terrible attitude. Immaturity mixed with grandiose. You're going to have to address his mindset as the primary reason he isn't playing. He is doing it to himself. Wright thinks he is Gods gift to hockey - that's why he was skipped and that's why he isn't playing. They are trying to break his mindset and change his attitude - thats what a coach does. Good on Seattle

I felt worse for Slafkovsky. He played great his whole season, gets booed when entering the Bell Centre, gets booed when he gets announced as 1st overall pick. Even though he is not racking up points he is having amazing performances and people still call him a bust even though when he is on the ice on his shift he is the best player on the ice yet people are just looking at points but theres only so much one can do.

Can Shane go back to Kingston willingly or is he contract bound to stay on the bench in Seattle? Cause honestly I would defect back and say dont like it trade me cause even GM's and owners are probably thinking Seattle is treating this kid dirty and would take a chance on him in a trade, cause he shouldnt half to put up with this crap

I don't believe Arizona seriously considered Wright with the 3rd pick. Yes, they needed a center but they zeroed in on Cooley and were excited to draft him. Cooley is going to be great and he wants to be in Arizona, which the same probably couldn't be said for Wright. I am sure the Coyotes kicked the tires on Wright before the draft, but they made the right choice picking Cooley at #3.

Here is a crazy idea. MTL should trade for Shane Wright once he hits the OHL. We can trade a first, a second, and Dadonov or Hoffman for him. I mean why not. MTL has nothing to lose and we will get more help on the PP and we get another elite player. We are making the playoffs this year if not we will miss it by a few points. What I am trying to say is that MTL is not getting first overall again because our team is actually decent without our top D-men. Adding Shane is not the worst idea.

Making the playoffs? Seriously? I fully expect Montreal to look bad against a structured Defense first team like Minnesota once again tonight and the rest of the league will catch on quickly. The only way Montreal has a chance tonight is to come out strong and take a two goal lead but I doubt that will happen. I love the way the kids are playing but let's get real for a minute. They have some growing pains ahead of them in order to become a legit playoff contender but the future does look bright indeed. GHG

There is this big issue with this modern era when all of your tape is online and can watch it. You are being told since a very young age that you are going to be the 1st pick and suddenly you are not. Your ego was getting build up even without you knowing and this the outcome. Suddenly you are not everything to everyone in the country there is a guy that's getting attention too. There definetly is some attitude issues. Do i feel bad for him tho? Yes. Is it his fault? Maybe a little. The biggest thing to blame is the system American players are growing in. (If there are some thing wrong or it's hard to read I'm sorry but English is not my first language thanks.)

This Habs fan has been trolling nothing about him. Wright needs to play and the Kraken needs to smarten the fk up. If they're not going to play him at least 10 mins a game, send him to the AHL or OHL where he can play and develop, or trade him. The kid needs to play somewhere, not healthy scratched, not 5 mins a game...they are ruining him. Whatever the issue is, work on it. He needs to play somewhere. Apparently he got drafted and now shafted by a shit for brains organization. Why didn't he go play in Europe? ...he was a 16 yr old high school kid ffs. It was leaked the Habs were going to pick Slaf for his size, skill and he was playing against men in the tournaments. After the draft, other factors were revealed like maturity, independence, responsibility, attitude, leaving home to play...

These CHL players have never played a single game against real men. Maybe Wright just isn't good at an NHL level and that's why he's being benched. I think a lot of teams are starting to catch on that players are better developed in Europe or the USA college system

Click bait. The Kraken are trying to have a winning season. Morgan Geekie is a better center at this time so he is starting. Shane wright is training with the team. When he shows he has more to offer he will get his minutes. This isn’t high school, it’s professional hockey. How Wright feels is not part of the equation. Get better…that’s the answer. As far as Habs fans trolling….who cares…
