Nice vid. I'm in the hunt for a Friedman amp, considering the 20w Little Sister. Then I heard about the Smallbox and in my search found your post. You must be running the pedal board through the effects loop. The volume must be at room level since there's no attenuation, right? In your opinion, should I save a bit more cash for the Smallbox?

You are not going to get better tone than what you have right now. Amp and LP sound really really good! I am having second thoughts now on my Runt 50. Thanks for posting this video. sounds perfect! - John B.

Wow, I didn't come here expecting to be this impressed with the sound but I am. I know nothing about the Friedman amps, just always heard good things about them. Like someone else said, you're never going to get a better tone than you have now. Because a better tone doesn't exist! The good news is you don't have to look anymore lol. That is a beautiful guitar and I'm sure it doesn't hurt. But most important of all is your technique and taste. NICE

this is an incredible amp, if you can actually turn it up past 4 or 5 to get the power tubes cooking. I received mine today from GC , took it home for the trial, and alas returned it 2 hours later as it’s just wayyyyyy too fucking loud with no way to attenuate , got the combo. Again ridiculously great amp just unusable for me and likely you as well unless you can actually turn it up . Back to a Blackstar Club 40 and my Marshall JVM 50 watt head which is a much better option for my home studio and needs with my You Tube channel. Should have tried one of the 20 watters but the problem these days is being able to demo these high priced amps before purchasing. So just ordered the hand wired Vox AC15 with the blue alnico, something i can actually turn up a bit at home. Let this be a lesson to you all be careful what you purchase as it needs to fit the confines and limitations of where it will primarily be used, something i’m still working on getting correct after playing for 38 years and having a ton of different amps big and small. Last comment, the Small Box has to be cranked to get into proper metal territory for the necessary sustain etc. The Club 40 and JVM 50 do that in spades at reasonable home use levels, and i play at home very loud! Small Box no can do. I understand this is not really an amp for 80’s metal now unless again you can turn it up and even then. Perhaps consider the Wildwood modded version which has a 3rd higher gained channel added, then perhaps great for metal.

OK. So, I just got one of these in the combo version (not EXACTLY "as new"... but just about as close as one can get... you may just have to trust me on that fact. I guess, what I ought write, is: it IS possible, not probable, but possible... that someone at least had opportunity to open it up and, say, fiddle with a bias pot or swap tubes or some dumb shit without knowing what they were doing. Personally, I have yet to even see the inside because I've no particular use or reason to). Can I ask? It seems you're more of a hard-rock type guy (merely based on the 1st half of this vid of yours... which is the 1st of yours I've seen)... Do you have much experience with many other high-gain amps? The reason I ask is... I'm not certain mine is acting right. The reason I say that is... I'm lacking the low-end "woof" from mine... if I can put it that way. It's not responding in the manner I'd expect it to, even overdriven. I've connected several different cabs. Tried several different guitars. No avail. I mean, I have, literally, more than a dozen other lower power (
