Frieren learned the spell to make grapes sour because Eisen likes them like that 😉

@@PixxiesPlanet it's pretty subtle. Eisen mentions it as his favorite food, and then in a montage you can see him happily clapping while Frieren casts a spell on a bunch of grapes 🍇

There's also the thing with the spell for cleaning statues. Frieren stops by all statues of Himmel they find in their way. So that's a great spell for her to have. In a way, those apparently random spells were not random at all.

This set had a lot of good imagery for Himmel. Two big examples: When Heiter fell, there was a massive downpour. Himmel (the sky) was crying. When Freiren found the flowers, she was framed against a beautiful sky... Himmel was with her, and he was very happy.

The official trailers and adverts were all like 'Do you want to watch 28 episodes of an elf being sad?'. Set the expectations really low, at least for me. The actual show does pretty much every very, very well tho. It feels like they are flexing that it is indeed possible to do everything, comedy, action, deep feelings, romance, character growth, plot, quality animation...

Frieren learnt turning sweet grapes to sour is because Eizen loves sour grapes, you can check back the flash back that Eizen telling her his favorite.

Qual figured out how the defensive magic was working, not because of Frieren explaining how it works, but just because he's a genious at magic. Qual must have been so scary when the Demon's King was still alive.

I love this show for its portrayal of magic. How the folk magic truly seemed like something that was made as means of convenience, and they're these specific, yet trivial things that felt like it was made by someone for their own uses, but somehow got spread around, possibly over a long period of time. Like tales and legends that's inherited by word-of-mouth. Beyond that is also the captivating, yet somber beauty that this show nails in both scenery and music. How delicate the approach in the characters' relationship to each other, and even towards time, which evidently passes on differently for our Frieren. Absolutely love your reactions to this show. I look forward to you seeing more of what Frieren has in store.

Such a beautiful way to describe it. Diffferent magics, florals and seasons are so weak explored and given the same respect. The changes of the characters just in this time is really great, I hope there’s a lot more

Arcs go something like 1-4 5-6 7-11 (Some more loosely connected episodes) 18-22 23-26 27-28 Of these I think only 1-4 and 8-10 are substantially enhanced by watching them together. It does take a fair but of self control to not just watch as much as one can in one sitting tho 😊

@@PixxiesPlanetI hope it makes for a pleasant watching 😊 Episode 7 is split between two arcs, as is episode 11, so 5-7, 8-10, 11.... Is a reasonable way to split thoes also. Each episode is 2-3 manga chapters so the arcs aren't cleanly split between episodes always. You may want to watch episode 14 by itself, for reasons.

38:31 Frieren seems to wear the same earrings that Flamme had. This is one of my favorite little subtle visual details, and theres a good deal of speculation as to what's going on with it, although saying more right now would be SPOILERS

Really liked the reaction video. Wouldn't mind having a bit of time at the end where you talked about your general thoughts about the show, especially if you watch the episodes in batches by their arc. Some of the edit transitions were a little abrupt, but overall very nicely done 👍 Again, thank you for sharing ☺️

An interesting way to add post arc thoughts is to record them right before making the edit, instead of right after watching. Don't let any suggestions stop you from making content tho! It's a lit of work and what you are already doing is quite enjoyable 😊

@@ObiwanNekodyI did make it the night before and edit it the next day haha. It took 24 hours total. I think just doing 3 episodes back to back is just a bit much to edit. Maybe when I do the next batches I’ll be more mindful. I’ll try and make the edits less jarring, but not sure how to do that without being copyright blocked.

Zoltraak is still very important. All of their combat magic is measured in comparison to it. It's also the name of the musical score they use for action sequences 😊

I love watching reaction channels see how much of a romantic Himmel was with Frieren from the beginning. Also he was more super jealous of the "straw hat kid" at the ending because he got to see what he claims he wanted to for so long lol. Not necessarily defending her.

The show HEAVILY relies on interference through the details and storytelling, not really relying on exposition, reminiscent of Tolkien for me. The way I look at it, enjoy the ride and pay attention to the moments curated by the creator.

It's very heavy on Show, Don't Tell, to the point I'm not sure how well it could be adapted to a novel. It's honestly the only show or movie that I have trouble imagining how they could write a book which tells the story as well.

they didn't show the rock being blasted through because that is not the point of that scene. power scalling and all the flashy things that comes along with it is not the main thing but rather what it means to the story, why should the viewer care about it beyond just "it looks cool"

If you can defo watch 5-7 next ep then 8-10 on the next one. That way it matches up the episodes pretty well.

Episode 7 is a weird one because the first half ends the previous arc and the second half starts the next one. Same with episode 11.

I am of the opinion that episodes 8, 9, and 10 are best watched in a single sitting. Many people agree with this, but it isn't universally agreed upon and isn't how they were released like 1-4. I would recommend budgeting the time to leave this as an option when you get to them.

The only real problem with this show is that there's no indication that you're SUPPOSED to watch the first 4 episodes together; even if you DID notice, there's no option that I'm aware of to watch them all seamlessly. They should do what they did for re:zero and make a special "season" listing that combined the first four

@@PixxiesPlanet as for which episodes to watch together, tbh none of them are NECESSARY to watch together from here on out. I personally feel like watching in 2 episode chunks tends to give a better WATCHING experience, but feel free to keep it one episode a video to maximize view count

The names in Frieren are all Germanic - so it's "Varm" as opposed to "Warm" Character names all have meaning too - Frieren - "Freezing" Fern - "Distant" Himmel - "Sky" Heiter - "Clear" Eisen - "Iron" Qual - "Torment" Flamme - "Flame" I'll leave the rest for you to look up as you come across new characters.

Himmel's Party is basically wizard of Oz characters in a different setting. It's funny if you think about it. Cowardly warrior, Brainless hero, Heartless priest. Lion, Tinman, and Scarecrow.

I like your reaction but I noticed you miss a lot of subtle things. You may be talking over dialogue a bit much. It won't exactly make or break the show to miss some stuff, and I know it's part of the point of reacting is to talk, but at the same time it still felt worth mentioning. Again, overall great reaction, glad you're enjoying the show, just a minor criticism that I hope doesn't offend.

Two seconds of video and three of comment, it’s like one of those at the cinema that can’t shut up for a minute and just watch the movie. And no, this is not a “reaction” this is non-stop pointless chattering. I watched the reaction to ep 1, checked the subscriber count and thought ‘she’s new to this, she’ll learn” but since she seems satisfied, fine, I’m not interested on watching this. 👎
