HI Guys,
Tonight I have a story from the Sierra Nevada woods where a man brings his family to a cabin in the North woods of Wisconsin. There the son has an encounter with something that is very frightening, no one believes him until his father sees the same thing in the forest behind their cabin. Scary stuff for a 6 year old boy to experience!!
Keep Hiking!

Back in the 70’s, our family friends let offered the use their cabin up in northern Wisconsin on Lake Superior. Our neighbors spent A LOT of time at this old cabin in the summer, always spoke of how much fun they had when they were there, so naturally we were excited and glad that they were letting us use their cabin for three day weekend. Our family didn’t have much money back then, and could have never afforded to rent a cabin, let alone own one, so we were really thankful for this opportunity. Being a kid at the time, I had a fantasy of what I thought staying at this cabin would be like, and pictured lots of swimming, boating, & grilling etc. The fantasy was quickly dashed, it turned out the cabin was built in the 40’s or 50’s, and was very vintage, and so was the decor; it was like going back in time, while it was charming, and it did have electricity, there was NO running water or indoor plumbing! All water had to be hauled in. The cabin was probably 300 feet from the lake,& it was so wooded & overgrown, you couldn’t see much of the lake, just some blue hue thru the trees hear & there when the wind blew.. There was a long narrow wooded narrow path down to the lake and it opened up to a small rocky beach area; and even tho it was July, the water was ice cube cold and I only waded in, definitely no swimming! There were nearby neighbors and it was very private. FROM the time of arrival, the whole place gave me the creeps! I didn’t say anything to Mom, she seemed so excited to be able to give us this opportunity during summer vacation, that I didn’t want to hurt her feelings by sharing how scared I felt, just being there, and oh It had the creepiest vibe, was not well lit , and there was no natural light because of the overgrown trees. There was an outhouse about 75 from the cabin, with a big window in it facing the lake, like I said the place had a creepy feeling , like a “heavy” subtle feeling like something or someone was watching you; like you could turn around & expect to see someone there!. I was like 15 at the time we were there, and i didn’t relish the thought of hiking to that outhouse at night, but eventually I had to make the hike and that big window reflected the light of the flashlight & you couldn’t see ANYTHING but your own reflection, it was sooo spooky, ya wondered who could be watching you! And i definitely felt like someone was! The next day I finally told my mom the place just felt really creepy, and to my surprise, the whole family agreed & my Mom was the first to suggest we just pack up & head for home! And we did! Oh i was never so relieved to be leaving that creepy place! My Mom told a white lie to our neighbors, as to why we came home early, as not to offend them since they made us such a gracious offer. Years later Mom remarked that she instantly felt creeped out by the place too, and felt like something very dark, had occurred there, and that she only remained mum about it, because she thought we would disappointed if we left. Well, we couldn’t WAIT to get out of there! We never did find out if anything happened there, but something must have! To this day, I listen to my gut feeling, and if something gives me a feeling I can’t ignore, I’m outta there!

Well, I would have talked with the "cabin neighbors." You mentioned there were neighbors, and probably communicating with the owners while you were at the cabin might might have helped with your "gut feelings." I can't begin to count the number of instances I've heard people with me use that phrase, and I never had those same "gut feelings." So, to me, it's just their imaginations Almost everyone of these stories seem to contain the words "I didn't want to tell anyone because they might think..." When I hear those words my first thought is "then nothing actually occurred." And, lastly, "gut feeling" isn't a very scientific or convincing phrase. "I had a gut "feeling" that the results of my scientific experiment showed..." "I had a gut feeling the bacteria we were monitoring was safe for humans." "I had a gut feeling the gun or bomb or whatever, wasn't real/loaded. No the real world just doesn't work like that.

Great story Chris. Puts my mind to a camping story I want to tell. Most don't know a lot about the woods at night...some do. Great storytelling! This was creepy as someone talking to me in my kitchen saw a face in the window tonight...and the window is 7 ft off the ground! I know he was telling the truth as he began to cower down as he saw it. When asked to describe it he said adult male with blue eyes. How he saw the eyes in the dark I do not know...but the face disappeared when he pointed at it. Creepy. I live near a national forest.

Interesting, I loved this. My Dad is from Minnesota, and my Aunt and Uncle have a house in Bailey's Harbor, Wisconsin where we have been going for a week every August since around 1977. I wonder if the sasquatch comes that far East?

I stumbled upon your channel last night. Was sitting out back enjoying the fire late night and started listening to the solo hiker who had his tent brought up into the tree by what he thought was a mountain lion. That story was so well told I had to start looking behind me. These are great man!

Good job Chris! I used to live not far from the Sierra Nevada’s. I will always love them Right up Mt Rose in South Reno and a place in Truckee. I think you said you worked in Reno. I think you might know someone that does the same work that you do if I’m remembering right. Jon Bodenshot. Maybe not but love your videos!
