I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

This exercise is something most of us can't do. Closest I could try is spraying water is the walk-in freezer at work. But I suspect management wouldn't appreciate the wonder of it though. And the freezer may not be cold enough.

Fun Fact: It’s not actually steam. What Post is making here is actual clouds… filled with snow. The water is going through such an intense temperature change that it is vaporizing, but the water vapor is also instantly freezing. There are moments when the cloud is just building up and not blowing away (early on, at least, before I’m writing this at 5:31 in), and you can see some of the snow sprinkle out of the bottom of the cloud. Hot, moist air meeting cold air causes snow clouds (or at warmer temperatures, some form of precipitous cloud), and at this low of a temperature, the hot water turns to hot, moist air.

This is so much fun to do, used to take pots of boiling water and throw the water up in the air and it would vaporize and never hit the ground, amazing how much the seasons have changed over the years, I remember when I used to snow in late September!

I had a freeze proof faucet that worked great. Two things that you need to make sure you do. 1. The faucet had to be pitched downward toward the outside. That way when the valve closes inside the heated area of the house, the water drains from rest of the faucet before it freezes. The inside end where the actual shutoff is has to be in an area that stays above freezing. A small air leak could freeze it. 2. You have to disconnect the hose from the faucet immediately when you turn it off, so the water does drain before it freezes. That hot/cold valve may have a design flaw that prevents all of water from draining.

I don’t know what’s more iconic, the sound of Postie’s voice or the way he uses his hands to tell a story. Also, on a 90 mile plus (Green River and Pacific Coast Highway) bike ride today I was next to a body of water and small damns throughout. I kept looking for culverts!!! After viewing Post 10’s content I can’t look at a running body of water the same ever again. Plus I saw an EAGLE scoop up a fish from said water and fly away with it. Was an amazing sight

I have a yard hydrant that pops-up into my unheated woodshop. The water line is only 4' underground as I hit bedrock in that area. I have 6" of XPS over the line and the valve at the bottom of the hydrant. I run the water into a drain after very cold weather (so far -20) because the water is 55 - 60 degrees, and will thaw the pipes if they are starting to freeze. I doubt that they are, but better safe than sorry with your water supply 💧🥶

This was fun to watch. I agree, better at night with the contrast of darkness. I've seen those videos where people throw a panful of water off their deck in the cold, and usually there is shortly thereafter an admonition not to do that because of the possibility of injury. But I trust you to do things safely, not be a showoff.
