is the length of the foundation chain the length of the finished product? meaning do i need to make it longer because its gonna become shorter?

Yes. I've made a few and they do end up being a little shorter. I usually start with between 60-70 chains.

You can use the spiral as a decoration, as a wind spinner, they are also used as tentacles for crochet squids, there are different possibilities.

@@FrisianKnittingtutorials I crocheted frockie for my baby tought by u.. At last l crocheted a ribbon. Then I made tassels in such spiral. And result is marvellous .😊
